We bought a Dyson upright vacuum cleaner back in February. The hose on it split open up by the collar a couple weeks back. I called the 866 number listed on a label on the machine today and a flesh and blood human being answered the phone by the 3rd ring. I related the above to her and asked if it was covered by the warranty and she said yes it was. I then asked what I would need to do to get a replacement and she said give her my name and address and they would send one out. Total time on the phone had to be less than 2 minutes without an auto-attendant or cheesy muzak encountered. Too bad customer service like this is so rare these days.

I suggested a Dyson to a co-worker, and he loves it...glad to hear that I didn't recommend a poor product :p

I purchased a chair mat from Viking Office Products (VikingOP.com) with a lifetime warranty. It started falling to pieces about a year later, so I emailed them and asked who I should contact for a warranty replacement, fully expecting to have go through the manufacturer (there were two companies listed in the product description, thus my question). They replied promptly that they would send me a new one at no cost, corrected my address (I had moved), and let me throw away the old one. I was impressed. :)

I'm on my second replacement mat from Viking. Last time, they sent me a bill for the replacement, and refunded my original purchase on my credit card, despite the fact that that credit card account had been closed. I'm not sure whether I'll get another from them or not.
