I think that BMI can be good as a very general guideline.

I'm 5'9 and 220 lbs. I am overweight, but not obice. I have a pretty solid frame (I am the triangle shape - wide big shoulders) and my cardio is good.

My ideal weight is around 170. My resting HR is about 42 - 45 (at 170 lbs). It's a little higher at the moment (55) because over the last 2 years I've put on 50 lbs and have just not been in as good shape.

True, but I don't think you can escape the fact that people are getting fatter.

Am I the only one who thinks that this increase could in part be due to an aging population?

Stats show major increases in childhood obesity as well. Everyone's getting fat.

I think "ideal weight" is a bunch of BULL! I'm 6'3" and my supposed ideal weight is ~190. At 190 I would look anorexic. I'm a bit overweight at 245, but I'm not obese by any means. 220 is my personal ideal weight and that's considered obese by the standards.

either the creator of the movie "Super Size Me" stole that from that website, or the other way around ...

either way, they showed that same thing in the movie, and i was shocked.

Everyone has a different body structure. You have to know your own ideal weight. Weight calculators are only a very general guideline.

What they don't tell you is they lowered the standard for Obesity which raised the number of people considered Obese....
