That is really cool. Now I have Android-app envy. I want it for my iPhone.

It reminds me a bit of the app for the original iPhone (no GPS) where you taped a playing card to your bicycle tire and then the iPhone would figure out how fast you were going by listening on the microphone input. I thought that was cool - but this is much better.

I am amazed by the creativity of people.

Same here. There's another sweet android app I've seen in the same vein that uses the magnet in the speaker as a small range metal detector. Worked well to find metal studs.

Tried it at work todau, 55bpm resting. It helps if you dont smah yournfinger on the camera and lay phone on something solid like youreg or table.

Thanks for updating the title, Vshah. I almost did that for you and I'm glad you updated it to make it more clear.

I don't think any of us know how accurate that is but I just used it twice on myself. Was fairly accurate.

It's accurate on me at least, using an Evo. I just checked it against a blood pressure cuff, which also gives heart rate and rhythm. The cuff read out 61 BPM, and the moving avg on the app was bouncing between 61 and 64.

Very cool.
