looks interesting, most war movies aren't based in WWI so it might be interesting

That looks pretty interesting. I just hope it doesn't turn out like FlyBoys.

We'll see how it's reception goes.

Also, why the fuck did you have to link to the trailer with the shitiest plugin?

EDIT: I searched APPLE's site, and the assholes there don't have it, so I guess this film is pretty independent. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with Peter Jackson was doing the directing.

He is directing dambusters, which I'm looking forward to, so yah.

Most people don't have any idea of the incredible carnage of WW1. The sheer amount of human death in a battle like Passchendale or the Somme is staggering. Total casualties for the Allies were 623,907 of which 146,431 were killed or missing at the Somme.
The British alone suffered 57,470 casualties at the Somme on the first day!
WW1 virtually destroyed an entire generation of the finest young men of Europe.
France was so psychologically wounded the aftermath persists to this day.

"I just hope it's more like Saving Private Ryan than like Pearl Harbor."

that's the truth. i've always thought the first world war was really under-hyped, at least in north america.

This film needs to be gritty and realistic for it to work. We need to see the horror of that war and the horror of trench warfare in all its ugliness.

would this film have more impact if it were filmed in B&W like Schindler's List?

Looks like it could be good. I agree that World War I doesn't get near the attention that World War II does despite its importance and legacy.

Hopefully it's good. WWI is way underrepresented in movies compared to WWII and Vietnam. Sucks that it's about Canadians though. :( Who cares about Canada?

Looks good, especially with only a $20 million budget... not even sure if it was Canadian dollars or not.

Looks fucking cheesy. Scratch that, really fucking cheesy. It looks like it'll be on the level of Windtalkers.

With that little love story thing that looks like is going on, it could be cheesy. Kinda reminds me of Wedding Crashers and Knocked-Up. They started out cool but ended up being crappy chick flicks. Hope this doesn't turn out that way.

Hate to tell you goober but the Canadian dollar is worth more then the US. Also they have some badass truck drivers too. A very beautiful one also.

lol

I just wish the movie was about Vimy Ridge. That was one seriously bad-ass battle.

One thing I'd like to do before I die is to see the Vimy Ridge Memorial in France. The pictures make it look breathtaking.

A time of innocence...a time of love...a time of war?

Oh great, Titanic with guns.

Could a trailer be filled with more cheesy one-liners?

i wouldn't mind doing some research and writing some sort of memoir about my great uncle Henry, who landed on Juno beach on D-Day with the Regiment des Chaudieres... died at the age of 19 near Zutphen, Holland in April 1945.

think about that. he was 18 when he landed on Juno Beach and lived ALMOST until the end of the war! one can only imagine what he experienced and saw with his young eyes.

he's buried at Holten cemetary over there. i plan on going over one day to visit his grave!

makes you really appreciate what they did to rid the world of Nazi tyranny.
