Now this is a cruncher!

kool!!
I wish he went into the software running a bit more, & the network speed etc aspects.
Anyway, "nice rack" 😉

Heh, I'd want a cruncher with one (or more?) of these. Although it might not be possible to get seti running on each processor with good performance (short of a customized version of the software).

Totally friggin awesome!

If I were to attempt a project like that, though, I'd probably go for a diskless solution (netboot the clients from a central server) and use mini-ITX boards so they would be more compact... oh well, it's only a dream at this point, and likely to remain one for years. 🙁

Excellent job that guy's done!🙂
Though I don't see what's so funny about pop riveting😕 (& yes I've done it plenty of times)

Inccidently I've used a few of those Syntax mbrds ,their pretty good for their amazing price.Though as that guy discovered they don't always run applebreds or thornton core cpus out of the box.I've had to flash the bios borrowing an old XP Palamino or an old Duron.
Pitty you can't get those mbrds anymore🙁

At work we sell a board by Syntax that is micro-ATX, has no floppy controller, no serial ports, no parallel port, and you have to reseat the processor (any 133MHz FSB Athlon XP) several times before it will post the first time. Also you often have to lower the RAM timings to make the board run stable. Thing is I can't ever remember having one returned. The stupid things are like the tortoise (slow and steady). Craziest thing ever.

Anyway that box is sweet.😎

Pretty cool, certainly outside the box thinking. Now we just got to get him on one of the AT distributed teams. 🙂

I think the writer asummed the duron 1800 applebreds where numbered like the athlon series, the 1800 duron actually states the frequency of the chip, assimilator1 is right it is 9Ghz total power.
