Together, ATI will probably sell 4x the GPUs as NVDA will through the $700 PS3. And with $500 of that going towards Blu-Ray, one has to wonder how much money NVDA will get for their GPUs.
ATI and Intel already have a pretty close business relationship. ATI aleady supplies them with chipsets. I personally would rather see that merger happen. Of course this scares the sh!t out of nVidiots, hence why they'll hope for an AMD takeover.
Exactly. Nintendo is poised to have a breakout Christmas, and Sony won't even be a player in the next gen console war until 2007, meaning this Christmas will be an ATI powered GPU (Xbox360) vs an ATI powered GPU (Wii).
And the PS3 is doing god-awful in polls of potential sales, where its $500+ pricetag is proving to make it very prohibitive. If PS3 is going to sell near the pace of the PS2 or PS1, it's not going to do so until 2008, when the price on the console drops from launch. And Sony may not be able to drop the price close to the Xbox360 until 65nm goes online in mid 2008 (at the earliest).
