700 pounds, wonder wtf they got in that thing?

Have not worked in pro sound reinforcement have you? ;)

I'd imagine they're using non switching amps and drivers with ceramic magnets still. Good 'ole Uli Behringer! Wonder what they're up to now?

Their gear works for a while until the cheap Chinese caps leak and nothing turns on or it flashes at you!

That's OK though - it's only being used for one show.

Haha yeah that was the line with speakers (bigger magnets) but now with neodymium magnets you can have incredible Bl with a rather tiny magnet. An unknowing person would think it's a puny driver - while ignoring a 4" or larger voice coil!

Same thing with power amps. Full SMPS amps are very light but definitely not light in the power department.

cabinet and bracing makes up the most weight.

The sound on the iphone is adequate using its on DAC. Matter of fact 99% of the program that people play on it won't even reveal its limits. MP3 especially ones purchased are not very high fidelity.

Home cabs made of MDF no doubt are heavy. Pro boxes made of Baltic Birch are lightweight in comparison. The larger boxes do have lots of bracing but I've had the same box one with conventional ceramic magnet motor and one with neo and the weight difference is instantly noticed by the techs moving them.

most of them lost their hearing range already so it doesn't matter.

Or the commercial compressed/processed/autotune SHIT they are blasting makes no difference. Hey let's use 8 bit samples because the artifacts make the vocals sound like a cast iron bitch. Yeah that's kool, dude.

yea, it's adequate for the earphones that come with it, no way it's adequate for a $30K dock. This thing makes no sense. Who the hell would buy this?

It's for a trade show, not something they offer for sale.

Decent cans/IEMs will be far more revealing than a PA box sitting in a convention center. ;)

It's just for show, loud, booming bass, etc. Attention getter is its purpose not sound quality although if done right could fill a large hall with decent sound. Again depends on the program. If they fill it with typical pop junk then no. I'd rather sit next to the diesel room listening to the throb of 60,000 hp.
