instead of having multiple threads on random ipaq questions, apps, brags, etc, i propose we keep it all in here.

ask any questions, reccommend programs, etc. :)

i'll start it off - what proggies do you guys use for mp3s/video ? i tried Media Player but it doesn't look like it works with Pocket PC 2002. i got pocket player 1.21 and it's awesome i think, but maybe that's just me being excited to have it working :)

and if you haven't already, make sure you snag GigaBar. ;)

oh yea, and here are some links, courtesy of jbtech :

I just got a 3635 courtesy of radio shaft. I already have a love/hate relationship with it :Q I mean, damn, the 3600/3700 series ipaqs are the most beautiful pdas on the market and I've seen them all. But alot of the 3600s have QC issues, like dead speakers, dust under the screen, etc. My one day old ipaq already has those first two problems :(

I swear the ipaq is like the dysfunctional supermodel of the pda world ;)

eWallet is a must-have app. I think it comes on the CD with the iPaq. Avant-go is a pretty much must-have. I also like Peter's gamebox. A bunch of really good freeware games that are worth playing.

Joemonkey - replaces the taskbar. allows a lot more customizable, and is a lot more powerful as well. shortcuts, close apps, switch between, function keys, and even skins. :) also, free=good

gigabar sounds like the iTask bar but that you have to install it to take up more memory... no thanks... :)

man i got pocketNES on there, and the first final fantasy... i'm gonna get in trouble at work now

only half-ass complaint that i have is the volume levels seem to be set for loud, LOUD, LOUDER, EXTREMELY LOUD, and BLOW THE SPEAKER UP

I'm trying to convince myself that I don't! (Un?)Fortunately, I'm doing a pretty good job of it.

Anyone here know what light source the ipaq uses for the backlight? My guess is a white LED?

luckily, I realized that. I had one in my hand at Radio Shack, but then I realized I had a Palm M100 I got for free that I barely use and I had a credit card bill that needs to be payed. So my willpower prevailed. :Q Don't get me wrong, it was an awesome deal, but if I had bought it, it would have only been for the deal. There are colder deals out there that will suit me better.

Man, the battery life on this 3600 ipaq is pretty bad compared to the 3100. It's like someone cut my battery in half.

yea, doesn't quite seem like something to brag about, although it's enough for my needs. seems to be about 3 hrs continous, i noticed while i was taking lecture notes today. i don't see myself using it more than that per day, so i figure as long as i drop it in every night when i come home there's not going to be a problem. or when i drop it in between classes i suppose.

i didn't think i needed one, but after using it so far i've realized how much use it has, besides being an awesome toy. jotting down tasks/appts keeps me more trained than scribbling notes on my hand and jotting down assignments. AvantGo totally rules, and i've got my entire checking out working out in excel. i can't wait until i start to flex the multimedia capabilities with some divxs/mp3s

i'll stick to my palm iiixe :)

i wanted to get in, but i'm so freaking busy, i wouldn't have time to play with it until later anyways. and i don't really *need* it, my palm fills my needs just fine. the only the i'd get the ipaq for is pretty colors and better games.

Sheesh, you guys are late to the party;) I've had my iPAQ since Novemember of '00. I can still remember all the Palm heads on this board bashing me to no end for getting one.

is there any way to reset the system back to original? short of re-flashing Pocket PC 2002, that is?

installed a bunch of apps to test out, and i'd like to get it fresh and clean again. :)

yeah, i think if you turn off the power switch on the bottom of the ipaq, it'll reset it
