Impeachment has to be initiated by the Senate ;)
No, it starts in the house, then moves to Senate. Senate votes to remove. Plus it takes 2/3 to remove, will never happen.

I hope Dems push for impeachement, will make it that much easier for Republicans in 2008 :)

The next speaker of the house had already ruled that out before the election.

1. Pelosi wasn't Speaker of the House when she said that. Not to mention we now have almost 30 democrats in the house who were elected pretty much specifically to take Bush down, and if that means impeachment then that's what it will be.

2. When Dems finally get to investigate the things they want I'm positive they will find impeachable offenses hand over fist. When THOSE come to light I expect Pelosi's accommodating tune to change quickly.

Pelosi is not going to fire-up the Bush voters by impeachment. Impeachment would become the focus for the next two years and allow Rove to use all his really dirty tricks to win the next election.

I think the Republicans are bringing up Pelosi trying to impeach Bush so much... because that's what they would do if they were in that situation. However, that is not going to happen with Pelosi and the Dems. With the results tonight everyone has to agree that the Democrats are at a minimum, slightly, in touch with the country. I think we can assume that the Democrats are not going to take this as a mandate from America to swing Congress to the left. Plus, you'll see that this election has some very moderate, pro-life Democrats run that were hand chosen by the party.

I'm sure the Democrats will make Republicans vote on moderate issue like a min wage increase and stem cell research, and there will probably be some investigations, but this will not result in extremely liberal laws passing for the sole reason of Bush's veto power. I think Republicans will be very dissapointed two years from now to see that they can't run as saviors from the commi left.
