That's an unlikely follow up. Polyamorous relationships, however, make more sense. If we don't care what goes on between 2 consenting adults, why do we care what goes on between 3 or more consenting adults? There's historical and cultural precedent for polygamy. As long as we're not talking the weird incest and pedo version that has been in then news from the Mormon offshoots lately, what's the problem?

That probably will be the next step. Why should marriage be strictly defined between 2 people? Surely 3 people can be in love and united, too! Or 4, 5, 6...
There's actually no definitive source on what marriage is, unless you happen to believe in God. Laws and cultures can change. What is wrong and taboo to society today could very well be acceptable in the near future. It doesn't take as long for societies to change anymore.
