Now that school has started, or will start soon for some of you, what's your study technique?

I usually do my required reading once. Then, maybe a few days later, I'll go back and read the chapters again and make a note of key points in a notebook. The night before the test, I'll just study my notebook. For classes like math or physics, I do tons of practice problems. I usually take a vivarin or have coffee before I start studying and do the same the day of the test.

This process usually lasts about 4 weeks into the semester, then I get lazy and resort to cramming. ;)

When I was in school I'd study away from home, like at a library where I don't have the distractions of TV, the bed, internet, phone, kitchen, couch, carpet, etc.

i just listen in class, take notes, do the homework and read the material just before a test. i don't cram or anything not the perfect way, but good enough for a B average

Study as little as possible to pass. If you don't pass, then next semester try studying just a little bit more.

All of my courses are math-related. I just pick through my homework and do the most difficult problems and score in the 90s consistently. I don't "study" really at all.

I don't study

Study??? What study?

I don't study.

What is this st-uu-dy technique you speak of?

I don't study.

same here

study???? what the hell is that?????

Wow, guys, keep saying it, it's STILL funny! really! I love it when people repeat a joke over and over! ;) Sorry, I don't mean to sound like an ass, it's just...y'know....

Anyway, I'm hoping to really improve my study habits this year. I slacked off about 6th grade or so, I think it's about time to bite the bullet again and do better.

That should last about 3 weeks into the first semester, then you'll start rationalizing why it would be better to go to a party or get laid rather than study.

In high school, I would just go smoke some weed soon as school was out, then hang out on irc and watch tv for about 6 hours.

Turned out good, I am Deans List at a respected univeristy. In college, I dont really sleep, I do homework while other people are sleeping then I chill all day.

It is a costly way to go through high school, but worth it.

Well, I'm glad some of you guys took the time to impress the rest of us by saying how you don't have to study. It was very helpful. :)

Never studied. Maybe a total of 15 hours per class? My gf studies a lot though and I get bored so I study with her. It works. I've like tripled my study time. :)

Same here, good enough for a B+ average in Mechanical engineering. Attendance, doing assignments and getting plenty of sleep should always preceed studying. If I ever study then is never more then 20 minutes at a time

I start tomarrow my freshman year at a 2 year state school (SUNY), going for an A.S in Computer Science. I'll be taking:

Calculus I
Calc-Physics I
Chem I
Macro-Economics
Computer Concepts & O.S.'s

Since my math/science classes are all in the same building and it's right by the library, my plan is to get a lot done there before going back to my dorm. Classes end by 1pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, so I'll probably be in the library until 4 or 5pm on those days, and just go to classes Monday (classes until 9pm) and Wednesday (until 8pm). Weekends I'll catch up on anything I need to during the day and PS2 (Madden 2003 baby!) or party by night. Stay clean from drugs and alcohol.

Don't study much, don't need to.

I'm taking AP US History this year, so I've been doing a fair amount of studying for that, but haven't/won't do too much for any other classes.
