Now that NDA is over, how do you really feel about bulldozer ?

How do you feel about bulldozer's results ?

  • It was everything I expected!

  • OMG, how did AMD screw up so bad?

  • I am at a loss for words.

  • I feel betrayed, and will now buy a intel product.

  • This is all a trick, AMD has a secret patch coming!

  • I am perfectly fine with my current AMD system, I rather go AMD for my next build, but, not anymore.

  • Ugh. Well, there is still ARM or VIA, right?

I would think that an 8150 @ 4.6GHz would be quite the performer.

No, not really, unless discussing highly multi-threaded apps.

I won't be Upgrading for 18+ months and I will be going AMD.

I think in 24 months (Oct 2013), Intel will have Haswell out the door. It's going to take a leap of faith for AMD to beat that CPU.

I've never understood consumers like you. Sticking to a single brand even if another brand gives you more for your dollar.

It's just not logical.

People have different criteria for selecting a product. What equates to cpu speed may not be high on his list.

Walmart certainly gives you more for your dollar, but I refuse to shop there.

Comment from AMDZoner..

Poor AMD though.. what a disaster. Barcelona (performance), Prescott (clocks/power) and Fermi (die size) all rolled into one..

Never thought I'd see the day when comments like that appeared there.

I find it humorous that Piledriver, Steamroller, and Excavator are the next iterations in the BD family, considering the impact that this release is going to have on amd's sales. I admit that I've always favored AMD, sometimes even when intel was better, but AMD is so far behind now that I will probably never buy another one of their cpus.

When you girlfriend gains 15 lbs she can go the gym and lose it. When she gains 50 it's time to dump her. AMD just gained 150 lbs. Should we shoot them, or just hope that somebody like NV or Samsung buys up their cpu division and actually makes something of it?

Pending my AM3 motherboard gets certified (need to look into this) I will be picking up an 8150 in the next few weeks.

The BF3 benchmarks I have been seeing look good and that would be my primary reason for picking one up. 4.8GHz with my liquid cooler sounds good.

honestly, I think it is a win for the server market and a lose for the consumer market.

I could see this thriving in a server environment where highly parallel tasks are the name of the game.

I didn't high expectations to begin with.

Why in the world would you pick up 8150? If anything pick up 1090...it's better!!!

Also, why in the world would you go by BF3 beta benchmarks. They are worthless until the game comes out. Beta is stripped down to bare bones...

As far as the server market is concerned, how would this thing stack up in performance-per-watt?

The Anandtech review was looking ok until you got to gaming benchmarks. I'm not a big gamer, so I still feel ok with upgrading to BD in the future (assuming Asus provides BIOS upgrade to my AM3 mobo). But for gamers, this is really not good...

I could care less other than being competitive to keep Intel's prices down. So far the numbers aren't looking good for AMD. Not sure if patches could bring them up somewhat or not.

I've been Intel since core2 duo and it doesn't look like it'll change anytime soon.

At this time it looks like the new architecture isn't ready for prime time!

The performance seems kinda strange. Kind of makes a person wonder if the chip was designed to be paired with GCN to shine. With 2b transistors in the die I'd hope AMD has some voodoo magic sitting idle for GCN. I'd have to think that these two architectures were designed to complement each other. Well at least that would have been my goal anyways!

Didn't vote as I didn't see anything that fit for me.

I don't understand people like that either, but you'd best not convince them to switch. We need these people to keep AMD afloat while we reap the benefits of Sandy Bridge.

I usually build a budget system but this is soo slow that you have to get the Intel options I mean really why sell this right now? Why not just get a 32nm Phenom III?

I'm very disappointed. Maybe bulldozer will come into its own in future revisions, but intel is now free to start jacking up their prices IMO.
