now that IBM's leaving the PC biz

I was looking at (refurb) 700m. How do they compare to a T4x or X4x from IBM? I'm hoping that with a deal I could get one for about $1000-1200 vs a LOT more for an IBM. Now that IBM is leaving the biz, do we still buy Tpads or move on to HP /Dell. I was going to upgrade the warranty to 3 yr, but I'd like to know about the feel and build quality of these machines? Any obvious reasons to skip this model?

They have not even said it's true yet and everyones in a panic.
Plus I think even though the articles say it includes the ThinkPad line-up its false.
I think they will continue designing and selling their notebook lines just not the desktops.

Take a close look on the keyboard part of the inspiron 700 reviews. If you are buying a laptop for a good keyboard, dell has done some funky stuff (1/2 size keys?) with the 700 keyboard that drive some (not all) users crazy.

thanks, which reviews? that's a good thing to know about the keys. I like the T4x, but then I saw the Averatec at Sam's and it looked cute so I was thinking I go to a 12".
