Now installing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion...

I typically play racing or FPS games. I've heard that this game is amazing. I figured that I would try it out. Graphics look amazing but I've no idea how to even play one of these games.

Is it a good idea??

i love it on my xbox360 and im a sports game fan..................not really into playing games on the pc, but as a game it rocks

amazing, huh? is it really that good? because i just received hitman 2 for xbox360, and i hate it (i shouldn't be surprised, because i thought the original was terrible). maybe i'll send it back for oblivion.

i got bored with after about a week or 2 of playing. its extremely repetitive, combat is boring and repetitve, and overhyped imo.

i played it religiously for those 2 weeks and after that it was just meh. i guess the hype just wore off.

I've heard that Oblivion has 200+ hours of gameplay + awesome graphics + excellent storyline + good gameplay.

I'll find out in the coming days.

Oblivion is a very deep game. By deep I mean a ton of content. Some of it can be repetitive but you'll never lack for something to do.

Expect to be confused for the first couple of hours, ready to reset your character after a few more because you finally get it, and sucked into it for hours upon hours afterwards - I'm at 70 hours, doesn't seem like I'm near done.

They're not kidding when saying the game will bring any computer to its knees. Specs here: XP-M 2500+, Radeon 9800 Pro, and it's not smooth (20ish fps?) even at 640x480 on low details (25% or less fade distances).

IMHO, I found nothing to be repetitve. Best game I have ever played.

When I say repetitive I mean talk to person A, go to X ruin/cave/fort, and retrieve item/person Y.

The storylines surrounding these tasks makes up for that though. I'm totally engrossed in the final portions of the Mage's Guild Quest right now.

honestly i found the game to be boring after about 4 hours of play..

You didn't get very far then. Once you get out of the sewers and start the main questline or any one of the various sidequests, it gets very interesting.
