Whoohoo, I finally got off my lazy ass and fixed UT. I knew that when I owned my GF1 DDR that there was some way to hack UT and make it play in ogl as apposed to d3d. Well that was about 6-8 months ago, and it never worked so I gave up on it. Well now I've had my Radeon for quite some time. I'm running Win2k, so allready games don't perform at max levels. Well I was getting around 35-45fps at 1024x768x32bit, everything maxed out in d3d. I really wasn't too happy with that. Today I visited the Unreal Technology page, and saw that they had an updated ogl.dll. I figured, what the hell I might as well try it. I replaced the .dll and ran UT in D3D... Right off the bat I was running at around 70fps!! I was shocked, and very happy. Allthough it did crash a few times. So I went back to the Unreal Technology page and found out that I'm supposed to edit the UnrealTournament.ini file. Did that and played the game again. No crashing, and still getting excellent frames. Then I realized that when running ogl, you can use the textures from the cd2. Installed the spiffy textures, fired up the game, and wow! It looks amazing and plays at between 60-100fps. Never ever drops below 45, and is 90% of the time above 55.
Looks amazing, and runs nice, fast and smooth!!
Now this is the kinda gaming experience I was expecting from a T-bird @ 1.2ghz, Radeon 64meg, 256megs of ram, and an Sblive!
