NEW TOPIC: So I got around to calling Time Warner after doing some limited searching for deals. They are only wanting to push digital cable, surprise surprise.

I HAVE NO FUCKING USE FOR DIGITAL CABLE. The channels it adds to the standard lineup are friggin' worthless. Most of them are random stupid BS spinoff channels like MTV2, EPSNU, Fox Soccer Channel (WTF), and more worthless crap. Oh, but it adds additional HD channels. Sorry - as much as I like TNT & TBS, I don't give a crap if they are in HD. The rest suck and I don't care about them.

But nooooooo, they don't have a decent intro rate for standard cable & roadrunner. The best they have is $80/month for 12 months, but a year or two ago they were running at most $60/month for 12 months.

So why don't I take the 12 month digital cable intro for like $12 more per month? Because I just don't give a crap about digital cable at all. For the couple extra channels I would appreciate, I have to deal with the box & all that crap, then return it when I cancel and blablablabla. I already don't have a good place to put my AV boxes, I don't need another one. Not to mention just seeing the hundreds of worthless channels just pisses me off.

I'm going by Best Buy tonight to see if they have any special deals in their automated signup thing in the store - I know they used to. If not, I'll probably order standard cable + roadrunner. Bah

OLD TOPIC:

It's been so long since I've had to sign up for cable & internet. I know they used to, and assume still do, offer like internet + cable for like $60/month for the first 12 months. When I signed up last time, I remember at some point having to argue with the person for a while as I had seen the ad SOMEWHERE but didn't have a coupon number or whatever.

To make my life easier, where can I find these? Doesn't BBY have deals where if you sign up in store, you get a deal like that? Or do they put them in the Sunday paper? Googling isn't turning up anything yet.

TIA!

When I signed up for TV + RR in June last year, they just told me over the phone that I would be getting that deal.

Thanks!

Everywhere I look, I see deals of digital cable + internet @ $60/month for 6 months. I want basic cable + internet @ $60/month or less for 12 months, no need for digital cable.

I'll give them a ring tomorrow I spose.

I don't know how wise it'd be to go with analog cable nowadays. Cable providers are migrating more and more channels off analog and onto digital so that they can make more room available for HD and more digital channels.

TW sux. I lost service last year for a week during the runup to, and including, the Super Bowl. When they finally got someone around to fixing the problem it turned out to be something really simple too ... a bad box, nothing I coulda done. I then dropped TW and switched to WOW and couldn't be happier. I get 80 analog + 8 HD channels (5 locals + 2 PBS) from them for $40 month, you might wanna see if you can get WOW in your area ???

Phreak : Nowadays most of the signup "deals" are on-line only. Just another way to help them eliminate having to provide some semblance of customer service.

We pay about $100 a month for Dish Network Top 200 with HBO/ShowTime/HD and 2 DVRs. We also pay $50 a month for satellite internet.
No cable in the area.

If TW is anything like Comcast, then they probably have a deal like I got for internet service and "lifeline basic", which is basically the local channels (with public access and such, it comes to about 18 or so channels) for $60/month. At least here, the $80/month deal gets you "expanded" basic, which is channels 2-70. Are you trying to get their "expanded" basic channel lineup?

That's right - 70 channels with the goodies like TBS, TNT, Comedy Central, FX, etc.

I ended up just friggin' signing up for Digital HD with 5Mb Roadrunner for like $84/month for 12 months. Oh well

I was just going to sign up for standard cable & Roadrunner, but I would've had to pay an install fee - that was free w/the digital. *sigh*
