im getting the vf900 for my 7800 gt. so i wanna upgrade my cpu heat sink. i got a PD 840(im gonna upgrade to conroe when the EE comes out). i was think a Scythe Ninja or Zalman CNPS 9500. can i get some help. THANK YOU

Scythe Ninja for passive, Scythe Mine for active, Zalman 9500, Big Typhoon, or Tuniq Tower if you can find one.

You won't go wrong with any of them.

Mine has the best socket 775 mounting system.

You can only run the scythe ninja passive if you have above average cooling in your case, still I would get the scythe ninja and use it active cooling. Beats out the si-120/128 in most if not all tests, and has a 120mm fan over the mine's 100mm and is cheaper. The freezer 7 pro is also an excellent choice from provantage.com only $16+ shipping.

Ninja Plus is nice too.

My ninja works great, it's really nice to be able to put the fan on any side, in any direction....and I can run passive, but like others said, you do need some nice case fans to make it adequate.

I'm using a Scythe Ninja passively in an Antec Solo case.

The rear exhaust fan comes within about an inch of the Ninja. I have a Scythe 1600 rpm Sony bearing fan for exhaust, and two Scythe 92 MM fans undervolted at the front of the case. I hear some air noise from the exhaust but idle a D940 cpu at 41 degrees and load it at about 53. I'm pleased. The conroe will pull less power than a pentium D 940 so when I switch I will either slow the exhaust fan and use a Scythe mine or leave things as they are with the passive Ninja.
