I hate these people and their retarded New Year's resolutions that show up and hog all the equipment at the gym. Thankfully 95%+ of them lack any willpower and will stop showing up within a month.

In the mean time, every time I go to the gym now I'm forced to look at more rolls than a bakery :disgust:.

...of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
 
Yep, it's pompous jackasses like you that keep overweight people from going and staying at the gym to get into shape. It seems like you almost need to get in shape BEFORE joining a gym now, just to avoid ridicule from the hard-core musclehead members. 🙁

Where did I say they shouldn't be allowed (note the spelling, btw) to go. I just said I hate the fact that the gym is filled by people who don't take the time to know how to use the equipment and the vast majority of whom will quit within a month.

I have 0 problems with the people who learn how to use the machines BEFORE they walk up to it and spend 15 minutes trying to figure it out; nor do I have any problems with the people who stick with the program. If you don't know what you're doing, sign up with a trainer, at least they'll show you what to do and how to do it.

I just hate the hordes of people who show up for two weeks and make the gym a living nightmare before they give up within a month.

edit: it's also much less of a problem at any other time of year, except for new year's. If you start going to the gym pretty much any time except new year's, you'll find that it's much less crowded and much easier to get started.
 
WOW a muscle head who can spell.....impressed. Why dont you make it your personal mission to show someone how to properly use the machines? What gym do you go to? The gym I frequent has instructions on the machines, everyone has to start somewhere?
 
So the new members should spread out how they attend the gym? Ive noticed that when I go at certain times the gym is crowded, also on certain days it is more crowded....I adjust my schedule accordingly. Maybe you should do the same?

I agree, everyone does have to start somewhere; that somewhere is not in front of the machine at peak hours in the gym. If you really want to figure the machines out by yourself go off-peak hours where you can spend as long as you want doing whatever it is you want to do, otherwise, go with a buddy who knows what they're doing or get a trainer for the first couple of times to get you started.
 
I agree there are times that would be better for new members to attend the gym but everyone has a life outside of the gym which is why there are "peak" hours. I also agree it is an excellent idea to bring a more experienced friend to "coach" you. Not everyone has that option. Im sure in a month it will slack off. Maybe now would be a good time for you to explore other machines and weights that arent commonly used or use free weights for your entire workout. You have to coexist, everyone deserves to try and be healthier.
 
I do get a bit annoyed that people show up for two weeks out of the year (the week after New Years and the week before Spring Break) and think they are going to see some kind of amazing progress.

But they keep membership fees down for the rest of us so meh.
 
I understand your frustration, but you need to realize that with the attitude that you have, you could be the reason why some of those people never come back. You say 95%+ quit the first month due to lack of will power? Maybe its a lack of self esteem which is pushed lower by the negative perception pushed on them by impatient, agitated, & angry people waiting to use the popular machines? You think if a person doesnt have a terrible experience at the gym every time they go, they might keep going?
