There were $199.99 and I found them in the display case and the guy who checked me out said he bought one the day before. I am keeping one and selling one.

My Target sucks. They never mark down stuff that low. We're lucky if they take $10 off an open box item :( Anyway, they're $124.90 in NW Ohio Target's.

I jsut pealed off all the red tages it was $199.99 to start then it went to $169 and then $139 and then $99.94 and then $49.94 So if your target has some in stock I would check on it about 2 time a week.

good price on this unit, i don't think you can beat $50 for an md player. just a warning though, i bought this model when it first came out a couple years ago (for around $300) and returned it promptly. This is definitely a budget model, made very cheaply. It is constructed of plastic and seems like it will not survive if you happen to drop it. It is also bulkier than any of the newer portables (the same size as the mz-r50 if anyone remembers that one). One plus is that it runs on 2 AA batteries, with no adaptor needed, and it includes 2 AA rechargeables if i remember correctly. another downside with this (and i think all newer sony portables) is that you can not recharge the batteries while the unit is playing or recording. All of that aside, I think it is an ok price at $100, and a great price for $50, however i would probably prefer to spend a little extra cash and find a used model in good condition, preferably the r50 if you can find one. It is the last model made with a li-ion battery, and has a jog dial as well. the r900 which was just released is really nice with its mdlp capabilities and the digital pc link, but is also over $300, has a nimh battery, and no jog dial. Just my two sense....

This is HOT for $50.
The nearest Target had 3, but the red pricetag on them said "Was $199.99 now $99.99" or something like that.
I'll have to check pretty often. If they go down to $50 I'll take all 3. Too bad the PC link thing that comes with them is analog. :( I want the digital PC link but don't want to spend $60 to get one by itself.

I went to my local Target. They had both a MZ-R37, and a MZ-R70. The former was 99.94, with the latter at 124.94. The woman said that they would not lower the prices again, as any price at Target with the last digit a "4" was the lowest they would mark it. Went for the very cool MZ-R70. It's smaller, and has a few extra nice features, like an extra headphone jack, headphone remote, smaller size, and more. From what I can tell, you can't even label tracks on the MZ-R37.

Have been terrible impressed with the R70 so far. Good quality construction, great blue color, and works well on any disks I've fed to it, or started to record on.

The USB PC Link interface works well, too, EVEN ON A MAC*. You just plug it into your USB hub or port, and start playing your music from iTunes, or whatever you have. Works like a charm. No software is needed.

*Sony doesn't specifically say it WON'T support Mac, but doesn't mention that it will, anywhere.

So, anyway, I'm really happy with it, and still think it was a steal at $124!

Thanks for the heads up on this!

Did that MZ-R70 come with a DIGITAL PC Link or the crappy analog one?
I doubt I can get any R70's as I didn't see any, but I wasn't looking too hard either. I might have to get one as I sold my recording deck.

do not let this drive you away. the r37 is definitly NOT made out of plastic, in fact, the one i have is a very solid metal of some sort. the biggest plastic pieces on this thing are the battery door and the front thing that holds the buttons. the body is metal. not quite as solid as my mz-e90 (magnesium all around) but it is a very good unit with good very good build quality (made in japan)
