That's good, my Grandmother just got diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
More power to the kid

Regardless of the specific message, I'm for freedom of speech for kids. As long as the message isn't obscene(extreme leeway given), I'm for it. Limiting rights is never the answer. That just teaches people to be sheep.

Can I say something on the subject?

Supporting such things is entirely appropriate, no doubt about it. However, can't a line be drawn in how that support is shown? Isn't there such a thing as inappropriate support?

Now, I'm not siding on one end or the other. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if my pastor has one of those bracelets. I'm just saying, for the sake of discussion.

Wearing petrochemical bracelets is easier than reducing environmental toxins that accumulate in fatty breast tissue I suppose.

No... There's no such thing as a "bad" word. Those bracelets are worded very specifically to be memorable, and it's working. Memorability is more important than people's petty sensibilities.

Edit:

They should make them out of hemp, and kill 2 birds(boobies?) with 1 stone :^D

Marketing WIN!

I just hope it isn't one of those cases where 90% of the profits go to the store owner and only 10% to the actual cause.

I take a cookie from sandorski and give it to starving people in the third world.

I had already Paid for shipping that cookie to the Third World and now the money is wasted thus ultimately depriving a Starving Kid. :|

I disagree completely! I'm not saying this specifically is a bad word, but there are bad words. Derogatory words are entirely the point here. There's a specific reason why the word "boobies" is used, and it isn't because it is proper. Psychologically people intentionally do bad things for humor. It's funny because it's wrong. So here I am with this argument. It wouldn't be funny if it weren't a bad word.

A bad word's only bad, if people make it so. It's just letters, and sounds strung together. If I wore a "great person" shirt, would that be bad? What if everybody wore a "great person" shirt? Would it still be bad, or is it just a word?

The number of people that do it does not make it okay. Your argument fits in some cases but not all.

The number of people very much affects the outcome. If everybody wore the "great person" shirt, it would lose it's teeth. It would be just another word. That can apply to individuals also. Words only have power if you give them power. They're completely meaningless until the listener gives them meaning.

My senior year at UCI they had a "Save the Ta Ta's" campaign with similar stuff they were handing out. The CCC club (campus crusades for christ) complained that it was in poor taste to the school senate and basically got laughed out of the room for it.

Moral of this story? Religious groups are the modern day buzzkillington.

But your argument ignores that the word already has power. The word wouldn't exist without that power. Your hypothetical situation can't happen, it's pure philosophy.

Of course it can happen. People just need to stop being nancies, and taking offense at everything. You know how many people are on my ignore list on various forums? Zero. If somebody says something I don't like, I ignore them. All it takes is self control, and institutional censorship is the wrong way to go about it.

we're not letting the kids wear them at our school. The ones they were wearing cost like 4-5 bucks and little to no money went to charity.
