I'm in an apartment. The apartment has some sort of lock out agreement with Qwest for internet and cable TV. The internet connection is Qwest DSL which is cheap and functional...fine. No big deal.

The TV access is a crock of sh!t though. Because of this lock out agreement, I can't have the local cable company (COX) bring in their service. Since I don't have a south facing window, and I'm not allowed to put a dish on the roof to get me southern access, I'm required to go through Qwest for service.

Here's what they do - they basically charge me $11.00 a month to have three receivers sitting in my apartment using a shared satellite system with the rest of the community. I then go over to Direct TV pay for my programming and once again, the extra receivers.

So Qwest is sitting here collecting anywhere from $4.00-$14.00 a month from people who are forced to use them to get cable access. And they do nothing except set up the intial install (again for a fee of $44) and just sit there and skim the cream off the top.

Isn't this stuff illegal?
