Check out circuitcity.com

Ipods are on sale for 10% off. This nearly NEVER happens.
Just grabbed a 10gb...all others are OOS for me!

Looks like they pulled the 10%. It was probably an error due to the fact that iPods are fair market priced.

Be sure to check out Apple refurbs too. They're shipped looking very new even though they're refurb, and they've had 10GB for $169 (you do have to wait a while and be in luck to get one).

Those are G3 ones.
Apple has NO refurb'd iPods now. I've been waiting forever and this seems to be the best deal going.
I just wish they had the 20's here.......

Yeah, I've been waiting a lonnnnnng time to find a refurb ipod, I might get one of these though...thanks

Fwiw I got an ipod a couple months. I bought the 20 gig one because even though I had like 4 gigs of mp3s, I figured I'd use the space and it was worth it for the accessories. I now have more than 20 gigs of mp3s and wish I bought the 40 😀

if you happen to be a student it should be this price too...our campus computer place has been placing ads all over the freakin' place =p

Of course I paid less anyway 😉 but that was back when Dell had those crazy stackable coupons and I took a good 30% off of my ipod lol. Paid $290 for the 15GB one(MSRP was $399). Tehehe....

You should have all gotten in back then! =) The 15GB is 3rd gen, just not the new 20GB =( DAMN APPLE FOR LAUNCHING THE 20!

this is a really good deal for ppl who dont have access to academic prices.

refurbs are 10/15/30 (3rd gen)
the 10/20/40 is 4th gen.

same measurements i believe though.

heh

$20 of cpu/memory and around a $50 hard drive and what does it cost? $270.

i still dont get why these are so good, you drop em, they're dead

wasnt the point of mp3 players - so you can run and blah blah with em without having to worry about them skipping/breaking?

Ummm, you can run with these and they won't skip and won't break. If you drop almost anything, you risk breaking it, so why should the ipod be any different?

Also, the hard drive that goes in these ipods is pretty expensive due to its size. Do some research before you post next time.

I'll probably hold my ipod purchase off till larger ones are released - either that, of if the mini-ipods are priced right! Thanks OP.

IPOD's are def not worth the money considering all the other deals on other mp3 players that are floating around!

hmm they are expensive, but I guarantee if you compare to the competion, the cost is well worth it. The user interface, size in hand, appearance, and accesories ( ie you can hard mount it into your car) are without comparison. i say good money gets you good products

i agree there are many competitors, but just like the same reason y ppl buy nice cars and nice clothing for a bit extra, ppl take ipods over other competiting brands.

http://www.ipodbattery.comYOU CAN REPLACE THEM YOURSELF. Buy a goddamn clue and get informed before you spread lies.
LOL Good show emmpee.
Buy a goddamn clue? Another ripoff I say!

Can someone explain the generations?? I thought we were on the 3rd generation now...
1st gen ipods (moving parts, 5/10/20 versions)
2nd gen ipods (no moving parts, major revision, 10/15/20 versions)
3rd gen ipods (same as 2nd except 10/20/40 versions)

What am I missing? 😕

All this talk of Ipods has got me thinking I need one.

Is there a site that does some honest side by side reviews between Ipod, Samsung, Nomads...etc..??

Thanks

I'd encourage you to go to a store that has them and just try them out and see which works better for you. I wound up paying the apple premium because I loved the interfaces. The others would have wound sitting in my drawer with alot of other gadgets, the ipod actually gets used.

Well, not quite. These are the 1.8" Toshiba hard drives. From what I have read, buying the hard drive by itself (if you can find one) costs almost as much as an entirely new ipod.

Now, if Apple had standardized on the 2.5" drive, I would agree with you, but if they had done that, the iPod wouldn't be as quiet, nor would the charge last as long ... the bigger 2.5: drives are louder, generate more heat and use more electricity.
