Saw Sonic the Hedgehog 2 with my son for his birthday. 6/10

Saw at least one review/article that said this was the best video game movie ever. I don't know about that, while there are some awful video game movies out there and the bar is set pretty low it seems like a movie this mediocre can't be the best of the bunch.

This movie was OK. Certainly not winning any Oscars any time soon. But it wasn't terrible, so it's got that going for it. If you have a kid it's worth a watch with them. If you're an adult maybe watch it if you're a Gen X/Y Sonic/SEGA fan but otherwise you can pass.

Went to see Morbius after work yesterday. It is bad.

Morbius - 3/10. There is nothing really there to enjoy it is kind of a empty film. First off, I think I just don't like Jared Leto's acting. I can't remember a role that he played that I enjoyed. Something is just off about his performances. I am never convinced by his characters. In this case, I think it is because the script didn't really give him anything to work with. Ever character in this movie is an inch deep. The movie is trying to be all action and it sacrifices both plot and character development to do so. The problem is that the action is not even that good, and it really needs to be to carry the entire film. It seems to hop between trying to wow us with bullet time and action so frantic that you can't even figure out what is going on, a technique I'm calling motion blur cinema. I still don't really understand why the main characters were fighting.
Also the mood is off on the movie. It can't quite decide if it is a gothic horror or a superhero flick. I can see that they were trying to combine the two, but it did not work. Mainly because there is nothing heroic about any of the characters, because they didn't spend any the time building the character.
I could go on, the cinematography was hit or miss for examples, some really well designed scenes mixed with ones that were not. But honestly, this movie does not merit that many words. In the end Morbius is utterly forgettable, and probably should be forgotten by audiences.

Jackass Forever

If you are a fan of the old stuff, you will like it. If you aren't, then you won't like this one either. There are A LOT of extra bits on the bluray extras too which made makes for about 2 hours (or a little more) of content.

The Batman. 2/10

Riddle me this.
Riddle me that.
That Batman reboot was
almost 3 full hours of crap.
The Batman (2022): 7/10

3hrs long but i thought they used the time well to flesh out the character/story developments.
More detective work than action, which i liked.

This movie is basically Batman: Year Two from the comics.
This is Bruce Wayne's 2nd year as Batman.

now downsides:
- WTF emo Bruce Wayne?!
- Catwoman is an expert burglar and safe cracker. Being behind on her bills and facing eviction made no sense.
- Selina mentioning that she hopes noone notices her special contacts. Why even put that line in? (google/wiki Chekov's gun)

- The Riddler is portrayed to us viewers as an ordinary guy.
How did he know about all the corrupt city officials? or the big secret?

- WTF going after the son because Sin's of the Father?!
The Riddler seems to know who is corrupt and who isnt and only going after the corrupt.
so WTFBBQ targeting the son who isn't corrupt because of his father?!

Now if the Riddler killed some innocent cops because they worked for a crooked police commissioner, then i would buy it.
But with how the story was laid out for us, the reasoning for trying to kill the son was a huge leap that failed.

And the Big Secret itself was a let down.

BTW, that's a lot of downsides for a movie to get a 7 / 10 rating IMO.

For me, the movie sucked in all ways. It was long, boring, and predictable. And then to have Robert Pattison put on eye shadow, blankly stare into mirrors, with his bangs hanging in front of his eyes for close to 3 hours.

ah ok but, the eyeshadow is for the mask. It's not because he's Emo. In fact, the problem here isn't Emo Batman, it's Emo Bruce Wayne. The scenes where he's just Bruce Wayne are pathetic, i don't think ANYONE disagrees with that.

Echoes of the Invisible (documentary, 1:47, 2020) 9/10

Not easy to describe. Several "protagonists" (from the mystical center of this, everyone is a protagonist), telling their own stories, sometimes interconnected. Think the ___skatsi movies crossed with science documentaries, laced with cosmology, anthropology, mysticism, a willingness/desire for deeper, more meaningful experiences and knowledge than is typical in modern times, especially by city dwellers or those whose existences are defined and circumscribed by the fruits of the industrial and digital revolutions (e.g. cars and digital media). That's a crude description. It's beautiful, well scored and narrated and a few of the stories are beyond astonishing, particularly that of the runner who's going blind, which is told in several segments here and there. It's my favorite, although it's not the central story, which is of and by a journalist who takes on a mission to walk around the world. If you have interests in expanding your horizons, this is certainly for you.

Better Call Saul season 6 continues to be a master class in how to make a great TV show.
Just watched this week's episode (Rock And Hard Place).

Wow. :weary:

Nacho was one of best/interesting characters of the series. You really felt for both him and Mike in their last scene together.

Yeah I felt the same exact way as you did about it.

It kinda sucked too when they got to the meeting because every other character you recognized from breaking bad except Nacho, so you 100% knew he wasn't making it out of there alive and that he was hopeless. That's why when he busted out of the zip ties and had the guy with a gun to his head, you knew there was nothing he could do about it and that he wasn't going to get away or kill anyone.

my guess is that they want to move away from "Billionaire" Bruce Wayne and try and push that character into a different mode. I guess he will still be a Billionaire, but this movie makes him more like a hobbyist with a bunch of money and uh, some darkness I guess.

The eyeshadow was always part of the mask. This goes back to Michael Keaton. They've always had it. Maybe this is the first time they've shown the makeup on without the mask, but closeups of all the batmen have revealed eyeshadow. They probably made it more prominent here for effect, or whatever.

anyway...I think I slept through the 2nd act of this movie, so it felt like a mess and I really had no idea what was going on. Which is why I think it put me to sleep. There are parts I like...I'll watch anything with Zoe Kravitz. I like his muscle car batmobile. That's about it.

the way i see it, it was one of the least-offensive films i've watched of the whole superhero thang. I guess they traded in the bullshit for the boring.
A polar opposite of, say, Deadpool.

.. let's say ... Bat-Documentary ?

Jimmy brings out the wild/destructive streak in her, so yeah I agree that her outlook doesn't look good when they wrap up this series.

Outside of Jimmy, she is really one of the more complex characters of this entire series.

I always thought something is going to happen to Kim since she was nowhere to be seen in Breaking Bad.
