Hounddog - 7/10

Surreal magical South-that-wasn't done right (well, except that you don't store canned goods that way, and older lids and bands didn't look like that :)). I mean yeah, it deserves a trigger warning, prepare to be a bit saddened and disturbed, but it gets it right. The ending is so awesome and well foreshadowed, IMO, that I'm loathe to even go into criticisms of the rest of it, in case of accidental spoilage. The ending is not a downer, like the rest of the movie, though.

Saw Raid: Redemption last night thanks for a heads up from this thread earlier.

Uhh...11/10?

Ok not really that high but seriously...if you want a balls out, no compromise pure brutal action movie this thing flat out delivers. Thanks to this thread I actually heard about the movie and went and looked it up. It was done on a shoestring budget of like $1 million bucks but it easily rivals just about any high budget studio backed production out there. It's up there with Rambo 4 for all time action awesomeness.

There's like 2 minutes worth of plot in the movie and the rest is just pure brutality with guns, knifes, knees, elbows, skulls crashing, hammers, machetes, fire axes, refridgerators turned into bombs ect. My wife went to this with me and she got a bit motion sick at a few times because the action was just so fast.

We in the theatre with about 12 other people and it was a pretty fun, small crowd. Even our little group was feeding off of each other ooohing, awing, cringing and clapping as the chaos unfolded. This would have been really fun with about a 100 people that knew what they were getting into.

It's not for everyone, but if you want 100 minutes of over the top limb snapping, knife slashing kung fu shootouts...please give this movie your money and support these types of small studio productions in hopes we get more like them in the future.

The Three Stooges 4/10 -- Maybe bump it to 5.5/10 if you're a die hard Stooges fan, but . . . this movie was flat.

Honestly, the Stooges are the Stooges. They're from a different time and place, and it would have been a miracle if this movie had turned out well. I watched them on the tube when I was a kid, and they were a phenomenon, but even then I considered WC Fields and the Marx Brothers vastly superior.

That said, the guy who played Curly really had all his physical mannerisms down.

It's just the 15 minute, black and white, two reeler slapstick shtick from the 1930's that was the Stooges wheelhouse was never going to translate well into a feature length movie today.

But I have a buddy who's still mad into them, and he dragged me to the premier. Nyuck, nyuck, nyuck! :p

Almost forgot, just near the end, what comes on but Bob Dylan singing Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues, which just might be my most favorite song ever, if there is such a thing. Huge, off the wall bonus points for THAT!

well the review was entertaining;)

The Adjustment Bureau - 7/10 - was somewhat interesting and not at all what i was expecting. I thought The Bureau was a government agency type thing.

Lorenzo's Oil - true story about parents with a terminal child that literally are responsible for saving thousands of children across the world.

This one is old; Nick Nolte and Susan Sarandon, and Nick gets a ton of hate because of his accent, but it is one of the best medical dramas I've ever seen, and it's real to boot. 9/10

I remember seeing that a LONG time ago, my dad had rented it and was watching it. I was a kid, but he thought it would be a fun movie to watch with the family. Anyhow, It seemed to go on forever, and nothing really happened. I might like it if I watched it now, however, when I was a kid, it was horrible! I remember the soundtrack being very repetitive and Nick Nolte wasn't funny in this at all.

The only reason they made the Richard Chamberline one was Raiders of the Lost Ark just came out and they were looking to cash in on movie goers enthusiasm. Thats also why they pushed it 60 years into the future, to match up with Indy.

Yep, but when I was a little kid it was a lot of fun!

OK, I FF through it. Sucked ass. 3 hours is too long.
Too much action, not enough adventure. WAY too many long drawn out boring pointless scenes. Slowed everything down. Not nearly as much fun as the other one.

Sorry man. :( Guess I don't need to ever re-watch it; nostalgia will probably not help it that much.

If I disappear, call an ambulance, I've ODed on Midnight in Paris. Starz has got me hooked.

I'm not sure if I'm more in love with Cotillard in Midnight or Laurent in Beginners.:wub:

Rango - 7/10
Really loved the animation and the imagination of the film, however it does drag at times. Also, Rango was half annoying at times. I liked the references to other flicks, but wouldn't watch this one again. Maybe if you like to get high or what not, it'd probably be hilarious.

Legion: The Final Exorcism 1/10
wow this was horrible. This was like a bad 80s made for tv movie. The only interesting thing about this movie is Roddy Piper is in it. I ended up fast forwarding through a lot of it just to get to the exorcism which was also crap.

The Sitter 5/10
Just another average comedy movie with unbelievable events happening.

Shaun of the Dead - brilliant
I've managed to miss seeing this movie many times. I guess being British and all, it hardly showed up in stores new. I never saw a used one, and twice it conflicted with both my schedule and regular recording, when it came on TV (oh, the perils of a single tuner!). It is simply awesome, provided you've seen the movies that inspired it.

DVD note: no subtitles sucks. Diana and Ed were often very hard to understand, given their accents. I had to backup and replay many times in the early bar scene w/ Shaun and Ed, and I'm not even hard of hearing, yet. Actually, I still don't know what he said about the guy with the knife at the bar. Why they can't see fit to include several hundred kilobytes of text in gigabytes worth of movie is beyond me.
