Step Up Revolution - 3/10 Just awful. The acting was terrible, the story was so contrived, and the dancing wasn't even that good (compared to the episodes of America's Best Dance Crew that I've seen). Overall, a bad movie. Why do they continue to make these?

a most wanted man 3/10, slow, boring, non-eventful for an 'action-thriller' movie. I was definitely not kept on the edge of my seat. I even fell asleep in the middle of it. Rachel McAdams was the only good thing about this movie, but even her fake accent was annoying. This movie got tons of good reviews too, that's probably because Philip Seymour Hoffman. They didn't want to trash his last movie.

i watched Fury yesterday on the back of the ATOt review and i wasn't impressed; it's just a very average war film, and not even one that captures the spirit either - in my opinion. i think saving pv ryan did it better, even though i'm not a tom hanks fan. i would give it a 6/10, it's inconclusive and the message "war is cruel, mmk?" is both redundant and (in my opinion) clashes with the "heroic badass" they tried to shove in.
also, too many cliche'.

oh and 'm also watching again the Basil Rathbone series of Sherlock Holmes films, all b&w. someone uploaded the whole lot to youtube. nothing spectacular but enough amusement to make the time pass by. 6/10

I agree with this. I not sure why, but I expected more out of it.

Foxcatcher - 8/10: A very quiet, understated, yet engaging and intriguing film. Yeah, it took me a bit to adjust to Carrell in the make-up, but I forgot about it after a short while and just enjoyed watching all of the characters interacting. One of those films with a sense of dread hanging over it, which I freaking love. Mark Ruffalo is the best thing in the movie; dude's awesome.

Were you disappointed because it was more of a setup for part 2 or were you disappointed because it was legitimately bad?

I haven't seen it or read anything about it, so I'm just curious. I did like the first one a lot but was "meh" about the second.

It felt like they were dragging it out. Either should have been one movie or shortened a bit.

4 movies is the new trilogy.

Which is why I'm not happy with The Hobbit movies. Dragging a one movie book into three spreads it too thin which is why it's so boring and why he has to put in characters that aren't even in the original book.

Tell us more. I'm intrigued (seriously.)

Babadook was really good IMHO too, IMDB has a ton of people bashing it because they don't understand it.

It's not really a typical America 'spoon-feed' movie. However; if you listen/watch you will catch all the details. Many small details, words, etc are of pretty big importance in most scenes. It's one of those you will want to re-watch again to pick up on things you may have fallen onto later in the movie.

What's funny is you go to these forums you see people that are arguing things that were there, albeit for a brief moment. I swear either people today don't pay attention or are at the concession stand/restroom through most of the movie.

It's not a typical horror film that relies on things jumping out/abrupt camera angle changes/loud noises....it's very subtle in nature.

Watch the HD trailer, either with headphones or a subwoofer. You really need to hear all that is going on in this movie. Its definitely in my top 5 horror movies.

I would have been okay with them doing 2 movies, as there is a lot covered in that single book, but splitting it to 3 is just silly. They could have simply cut off the first movie after the escape from the spider forest and be done with it. They also really dropped the ball with the whole Beorn encounter, but that might have dragged a bit in an already too long film.

I felt the same, when it was announced I was saying 2 movies with cutting it at mirkwood would have worked great. but they pulled in a lot of stuff from the other books that explain the story of what happened when Gandalf went away and blah blah blah pointless crap

I had an opportunity to see The Babadook and I agree it is a pretty good movie. I'd give it a solid 8.5/10 in the horror genre. The kid should win an award for his acting as he pulled it off amazingly. That being said, it isn't a movie I would watch more than once or twice. The ending did kind of confuse me at first, but I figured it out after some thought.

It might sound lame, but as someone mentioned older movies, I'm still surprised how much I like Dances With Wolves when HBO puts it on now and then.

Worth watching if the younger crowd has never seen it.

I'd put it on my top 100 if I had a list personally.

Most def agree, and it is a movie that, lack of zombies or vampires aside, should not seem at all dated.
