Robocop was awful. The whole point of a remake is to make it better or at least on par but more appealing to a modern or new audience. Countless films have pulled this off. The body snatchers movie for example. War of the worlds. The Ring. Solaris. Peter Pan. The Thing.

Robocop was just a terrible movie and the reviews reflected that. I hadn't seen the original since the theater so I wasn't doing a point by point comparison when I saw the remake. I just thought it was bad on its own.

don't think that is safe for OT...sort of scared you know about it.
When so many Internet producers are involved, it gets a lot of exposure. Screen Junkies contributed. My brother subscribes to SJ on YouTube and he saw them interview the crew [edit: Fatal Farm] that made the scene. That's how we heard about it.

One thing I'd like to ask, did you and CZero plan your screen names.

He is 0

and in Japanese you are 1 2 3 (Ish ni san)

Funny you are twins.
He had "CyberThreat" on SNES X-Band in 1995 (I think I came up with it). Later, he signed up for AOL in '96 and it was taken, so he registered a screen name that was even more corny ("CyberZer0"). Eventually, it didn't sound cool anymore...so he changed it.

I've been "Ichinisan" for a while. I was trying to attract challenges from Japanese Tetris Attack / Panel de Pon players on zbattle.net and it also referenced B. Orchid's 3-step "ichinisan" move in Killer Instinct (a game which I mostly dominated on zbattle.net).

Yea, but you're talking about an era of good remakes. We are not currently in an era of good remakes.

Our Robocop Remake - VERY EXTREMELY NSFW (shoots-off realistic prosthetic penises from countless rapists just after 41 minutes)

Better link for just that one scene: https://vimeo.com/86014703

Meh, not my humor.

I did however see a movie i do like.
Superman , man of steel.
I give it 10/10 Because it gave me a good ol' fashioned "good vs evil" adventure feeling. The movie starts of great. I noticed two actors that i also had seen together in the matrix revolutions. I also got a feeling that the fx studio for the matrix revolutions also is responsible for the effects in this movie. The fights are fun to watch. And i liked how they did the heat rays from the eyes. Although it did remind me a bit of the optic blast from cyclops.
All in all, i had a fun time tonight as being a nerd who grew op with comics. :)

I think I'm going to hit up Foxcatcher this weekend. I had almost zero interest until I listened to a particular review which made it sounds quite intriguing. Fingers crossed.

Birdman -- 11/10 -- This was the movie I wanted to see instead of Interstellar. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I got to see Interstellar. But this is the one movie I was not going to miss. I thought I'd like, but I truly had no idea how much!

This is my new favorite movie.

This movie looks like it might smell like balls.

:sneaky:

Yeah, I want to see this.

The Homesman - 5.0 / 10.0

Beautiful cinematography but that's where the good stuff ends. Acting and directing is fine but the editing and adapted screenplay borked this movie. Totally disjointed plot with confusing character development and dialogue. Not a must-see.

home alone - 10/10 - wife and i watch it every year and decided to do it last night after we got home from a nice thanksgiving and birthday celebration. it never gets old, and as i get older i think i enjoy it more. first time i ever saw it was a week before it was out in the theater because my uncle was buddies with daniel stern, and he got us a special viewing. it was literally 4 of us in an empty theater watching it a week early. one of those memories i have as a kid that i will never forget.

i dunno, i mean it still really stands the test of time imo. it is just one of those childhood movies that doesn't seem to age with time. i just checked imdb and it has a 7.4 on there out of 233k people. part 2 is also very good. then forget about the rest lol.

Well my favourite podcast did a commentary for it, so maybe I will watch it with that to ease me in. I just always feel like it's tough watching these lauded 80s and 90s films for the first time so far after the fact.

Really? I have no problem watching any of those 80's and 90's movies if they are good. Was just watching Fast Times at Ridgemont High. One of the best movies ever.

Home Alone is defintely worth a watch now if you've never seen it. It does stand the test of time. Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are fantastic in this film.

For first time watches? Yes, sometimes. I mean it really depends on the film; I watched Paris, Texas (made in 1984) last weekend for the first time and it was an immediate 10/10 for me but I find a lot of the bigger films are not crafted quite so well and are inflated due purely to nostalgia.

Nothing wrong with that at all, I do it myself, but it just makes me a bit trepidatious when watching these things for the first time thirty years later.

I guess for me it depends on the movie. I'm too young to have seen any 80's movie when it was originally out but the good ones I can definitely enjoy.
