If we're doing plays I could add a ton. Small local theater is perhaps my favorite form of entertainment after consensual heterosexual sex. Live theater, like live music, rocks in a way recorded performances simply can't match.

I completely agree, I love local theater. I've seen quite a few performances that were more entertaining than anything Hollywood has put on in the last century.

xmen days of future past - 9/10 - really solid xmen flick. didn't realize it had so much of the original cast in there, even if they weren't in it for so long. it was funny watching this movie the day after edge of tomorrow as they have quite a bit of time traveling similarities.

I couldn't get over how retarded the "modern day/future" parts were. They totally forget about the prior X-men movies. The past stuff was fine but the modern/future stuff I hated.

I saw "The Machine" It was quite good.

And Snowpiercer, man that was a good movie. If you like Terry Gilliam movies I highly recommend watching this one. Dont read the reviews etc.. just watch it.

both are on netflix.

Big Hero 6: 8/10

It was a lot better than I was expecting it to be. Wonderful graphics, loved the "San Frantokyo" concept, lots of fun robots. Bad guy was a bit more serious than I wanted for a kid's movie (kind of like how the Dementors in Harry Potter were kind of on the adult-scary side of things), but wasn't too bad. I'll definitely be getting a copy once it's available!

Hadn't seen that one, will have to check it out.

Appears to be Under the Skin.

The new Godzilla bored me to tears IMHO, I even went full out in the theater on that one.

About to force feed Under the Skin to the wife, I want to watch it again.

Dolphin Tale 2. Well not until a couple hours from now when it will be on digital download for purchase on some net stores. I'm going for it on iTunes.

Don Jon: 7/10

JGL and SJ acting like Joisey bitches. Not too bad, but not too good either.
Yeah, I found it fairly middle of the road as well, just an OK movie. First feature that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has written and directed though, so I'd be interested to see his second anyway.

The Green Hortnet 2/10

Very cheesey and supposed to be a funny, action packed, piss take of Batman, but it's just not that funny. It's mildy amusing at best.

5/10 Robocop (2014) .

Nice action movie and special effects, but i missed the ambiance the original robocop(1987) had. After seeing that movie, i had the feeling i had been on an adventure, was part of the movie. The new robocop(2014) version is as if i just saw a robocop episode of a tv series.

Many remakes that seem to fail to be better than the original. Robocop, total recall. Nice movies but the old movies had a real vibe.

what's pretty crazy about the original movie was how symmetrical it was.

the major problem with the new robocop is that the majority of people can't realistically evaluate it without comparing it to the original. not that i'm saying anything is wrong with it, but pretty much every negative thing i've heard about it is simply because it isn't a 1:1 of the original, which i'm glad, because if i wanted the original movie i'd just watch it.

Birdman -- 11/10 -- This was the movie I wanted to see instead of Interstellar. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I got to see Interstellar. But this is the one movie I was not going to miss. I thought I'd like, but I truly had no idea how much!

The writing is propulsive all the way through, often underscored, but never overwhelmed or intruded upon, by an appropriately discordant jazz score. All the acting is spot on, even great. They take this amazing script and run with it like the consummate pros they are.

The movie nails the human condition time after gut-punching time. It is FIERCE and it is, as great literature often is, repeatedly LOL funny. I went with a buddy for his birthday who had already seen it, but wanted to see it again. I seldom do this, but I'll be seeing this again, and soon. It is that good.

The cinematography, the atmospheric use of the back stage rooms and narrow corridors in an aged, cramped, New York theater are awesome. The segues from the wings or behind the backdrops to the stage in mid-play work seamlessly, and poetically, every single time.

The movie takes several allegorical leaps. This is always chancy, and will never please everyone. They didn't bother me one whit.

Did I mention how absolutely tight the entire effing script was?

Did I mention how often it made me and my friend burst out laughing during the screening?

Did I mention how well and completely these actors in this sharp, knowing production brought this baby home?

The long bursts of searing truth in the dialog keep on coming, and will command your damn attention every single time.

This is my new favorite movie.

Fury - 8.9/10.0

Really enjoyed it. I felt it to be a darker, perhaps more real depiction of WWII. Especially like the character development and comradery between the main characters. Also a very intense film. Enjoyed it a lot.

I don't know Perk. I found the voice over to be a bit annoying and I could have done without some of the fantastical stuff. I absolutely loved the whole Living In Oblivion style behind the scenes stuff and the camera work and editing are both phenomenal, it just did not come together as a complete film by the time it ended.

I will say I expect to like it more on a re-watch, but it would probably be a 7.5/10 for me at this point. Keaton and Norton sure were freaking amazing though.

You called it "fantastical" instead of "fantastical/delusional." They imply both and never clarify.

Well I actually thought he might have been dead for the entire film. Once he tells the jellyfish story to his ex-wife, I wondered if the shots at the beginning and end of the beach was to indicate that he was dead the entire time. Probably not, but just made me wonder.

He could have just been crazy the entire time. Or, maybe not even crazy, we were just seeing the fantasies in his head manifested on screen since nobody else ever saw him doing these things (unless you think Emma Stone actually saw him flying at the end).

Understood. Like I said in my fanboi review, "The movie takes several allegorical leaps. This is always chancy, and will never please everyone. They didn't bother me one whit."

And I don't think it's a spoiler to quote CZroe's response to you, "You called it "fantastical" instead of "fantastical/delusional." They imply both and never clarify." Allegory or fantasy or delusion, I'm at peace with the writers letting you decide.

But none of that is the real strength of the film for me. The film's strength is in it's laser-honed, real-life poetic dialog, in the writing, down in the grungy, maddening, endlessly propulsive real-life down and dirty side of things. So well done!

Tom Waits would heartily approve of this movie, as would Raymond Carver his own damn self.

But that's one of the things that is always going to happen with a remake. If they didn't want that, they would call it something else.

Our Robocop Remake - VERY EXTREMELY NSFW (shoots-off realistic prosthetic penises from countless rapists just after 41 minutes)

don't think that is safe for OT...sort of scared you know about it.

One thing I'd like to ask, did you and CZero plan your screen names.

He is 0

and in Japanese you are 1 2 3 (Ish ni san)

Funny you are twins.
