I saw the 2007 remake of 'Halloween' by Rob Zombie. This movie is 2.5 hours long and it really should have been split into 2 movies. Makes me wonder how much of the film wound up on the cutting room floor the way this was put together. The first half of the film covers the back story to the original movie and IMO it is excellent but it drags a bit from there because there is so much action and gore in the first half (leading up to Michael Myers escape from the mental institution) that you are suddenly thrust into a completely different movie for the second half.
Casting is excellent and the acting is also very good. The kid who plays young Michael Myers is fantastic and the adult Myers is scary as fuck. Not sure who played him though as you never see his face, just glimpses of his eyes through the various masks he wears. The girls are hot and there is a lot of gratuitous nudity and poor decision making by the victims.
Overall it is pretty good and if you like horror movies definitely give this one a watch. I still think this should have been two movies and needed more development on the second half of the movie. 6.5/10
Tarantino made movies than just Pulp Fiction? Wow.
;-) Ya ... I think it is the only one I saw that I liked. Granted I think I only saw Resevior Dogs which I thought was crap.
Gravity -- 6/10
Finally watched it to see what all the fuss was about. I didn't think it was that great. I think the sound was really well done and probably deserved the Oscars the film received in that category, but I thought some of the lines were pretty cheesy, for example
The key here is I'm assuming you didn't see it in the theater in 3D, because, that really is what made it shine. I liked it, but have no interest in watching it again on my tv.

Yep, he was freaking awesome in that. I just hope the film/role is not so dark that the academy gets freaked out by it.

Saw this movie twice over the weekend. It was just completely original. JG's acting was phenomenal. His character was likable and immoral. And I think one of the lessons of the film was that businessmen who will do anything will thrive. What a great movie.
Interstellar tomorrow...
a fierce battle between 70mm IMAX and an 8:00 showing of a 2h 49m movie on a Tuesday night

Nice. I'll be doing a matinee on Saturday, unless you say it's shit.

Awesome, so glad you liked it! Everyone have recommended to has loved it so far. I'm sure there will be a backlash at some point but to me it seemed pretty hard to hate.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - 8.5/10 - Surprisingly I really liked the first one and didn't expect to, and more of a surprise was that the second one was really good too. Even though it is 90% cgi, it is done really well. There were only a few moments during some fight scenes where it was a bit over the top, but eh, it's a pretty enjoyable movie.
I'll second or third or fourth it for NIGHTCRAWLER. That was unbelievable and beyond weird.
Like some Alfred Hitchcock film and THE SHINING combined.
I rate a film by whether I would watch it again.
This is a movie I would definitely want to see again.
If Jake Gyllenhaal doesn't get an award for this, the academy can go suck a duck.
Quack quack.
Let's Be Cops -- 8/10
