Do you really need 10x zoom? I have a Lumix FZ8 (12x optical zoom) and Lumix LZ8 (5x optical zoom) and rarely find myself using beyond 4x zoom or so.
If you really want the 10x zoom for shooting sports events or other long-range things, then the TZ5 is a good option. If you don't need that much zoom, though, you can save a lot of money (50%) by getting the Lumix LZ8 which has just about everything the TZ5 offers, plus a full manual exposure mode and the ability to use AA rechargeables. This is very convenient when you're on the go and you run out of battery, since you can just stop at any convenience store and grab another set of AAs. The Lumix FX37 is another good choice if you want a small package and don't need the full manual mode. If you want a long zoom with a full manual mode, then the Lumix FZ8, FZ18, and FZ28 are good bets.
I highly recommend the Lumix line of compact cameras. They offer more features than other brands at very competitive prices, and image quality is also very good as long as you don't go over ISO 400 or so (but most compact cameras have this problem with high ISO shooting).
