THIS...

as well as the others... either that crap you on the trade in to recoup or they give little else on the other side. I do not get it...I went truck shopping this weekend with a friend. He needed a truck...went to several..end of month...cold and rainy out...all that shit...no one cared...barely wanted to budge...had a damn 2006 chevy truck for more than a new one...but still would not budge...

??????? and of course the usual shit of your lucky to be on our lot attitude...let em all swirl down. how about we get rid of dealers and sales..they compound the issue...everyone i know hates buying car...my wife loathes it...because of the attitudes...

I went through a website looking for a certain type of vehicle in the greater PDX area and within minutes dealers were calling me left and right and still are. Ended up buying a Honda. Tell you what, they were willing to do anything to sell me a vehicle. They even dropped the price by almost $2k and included a stage 3 3year 36k warranty on a vehicle that had 73k on it.

Need to pit dealers against each other through the internet. Let them know about each other. Invoice prices in hand, hassle free. Deal done in a couple days. The only time you set foot on the lot is for a test drive and to shake hands at delivery.

Salesmen hate the internets as far as profit goes, but my guy saw me for all of 30 minutes and he got whatever he got... he can't complain I'm sure.

I've always hated the way car dealers/service departments acted and treated customers, but I've got to admit, they're really doing it right.

Sure, some of us don't like to get treated like crap and will tell them to take their crap and shove it. The other 99% of the population are terrified of the dealership and believe anything they say. Dealerships have a lot invested in the holier than thou attitude, and it WORKS, at least it did for a long time - dealerships make an insane amount of money.

Now that sales are way down, dealerships may have to change their attitude and cater to a wider audience, including more smart and savvy people. But up until now, I don't disagree with their approach.

If you could open a business where you treat people like shit, charge twice as much as you should, and have appointments booked for 2 weeks straight, I'd do it too!
