I have a client I just switched over from coax to cat 5. The new HW is functioning properly as the 2 Win98 boxes can see each other when set up peer to peer. This is thru a switch btw.
HOWEVER..... 🙁
The novel server is nowhere to be found.
The 2 Win98 boxes got a NIC upgrade to 100mbt but the server still has an old 10mbt NIC cause it's going to the dump in about a month.
I switched the NIC over to 10baset via it's conf. utility and everything appears to be correct but obviously it's not. 🙁
I know nothing about Novell and would not have gotten involved voluntarily but that's another story.
Questions..
1. How hard is it to change NIC's under Novell ? How ?
2. Do I have to specify the media type anywhere within Novell ?
3. I assume that when Win98 boots and fails to see a Novell server, it won't present you with the login screen. It's not now and it was before.
btw : All cabling has been checked with a cable tester and as I said before, the 2 Win98 boxes can see each other when set up peer to peer.
Any and all help greatly appreciated. 🙂
