Novell & Win2000, slow connection?

Recently sold a local school system 20 P4's (Windows 2000) with integrated Intel NICs. Everything seems to work fine, until they loaded Novell network Client. After that, it takes FOREVER to  enter the network- they've timed it at over a minute and a half! Ping times to the server are <100ms, and I'm not having any problems otherwise. I have to wonder if in the installation of Novell, it removes the Netware for Windows. Should I reinstall that? What else should I look for?

There are some settings in the client setup screens for the preferred connection mode. Depending on the version of Novell, and the options chosen for the server(s) setup (bindery emulation or NDS), you may need to set the client side to match (otherwise it looks for one, times out, then goes looking for the other).

Also find out if the servers are on the same segment, or accessed through a router. In either case, there are some options you can set (on the server, client, or router) that should help speed things up some.

You didn't mention whether the client is Novells or Microsoft's; there'll be different choices depending on which you're using.

FWIW
