That's right on, Aj_UF. Like you, I've always downloaded the mfgr's latest Novell drivers before installing a new NIC. The drivers that shipped with Netware 4.10 were diligently tested at the time of their release, but that was years and years ago, and the hardware we use now has some compatibility issues with those old drivers. And don't worry about not being a CNE -- this isn't a Microsoft thread so we aren't having a certification contest.😀
Hopefully layne isn't having trouble getting that Service Pack loaded. The way that I liked best when working on a non-production 4.1 server was to boot into DOS with CD-ROM support and copy the SP files to a directory on the C: drive. Then you can install the SP from Netware by referencing c:\410pt8b or wherever you put it. It runs much faster that way, and you don't have to jack around with the cdrom.nlm that shipped with 4.10. You do have to have a pretty nice-sized DOS partition to support this, though, but that isn't an issue these days.
