Hello,

I have 2 DELL poweredge servers running Novell 5.1 in two different counties. Both are less than 6 months old.
In one county the time is always wrong. This causes problems because I do not allow users to log in non business hours for security reasons, unfortunetly with the time incorrect during normal hours the users are denied access and I have to have them manually change the time. I had thought that it might be a hardware issue, but upon powering down, powering on the system the time is correct...

That means the hardware clock is correct. The software loses time as the system runs, about 40 minutes a day it seems. I have the system set to sync time with the hardware clock but it does not seem to work.
I have scoured over everything I can dealing with this issue but most answers point back to a sync with the hardware clock, or running multiple servers and setting up a time server. This does not help me as both servers are set as single servers which is correct. In fact i have exactly the same settings on both servers.

Any help would be appreciated as this is driving me a bit crazy.
thanks

What SP are you at? You might want to go to 5 if you aren't already. I'm not sure what is causing your problem, but one option might be to sync with an external NTP server rather than the hardware clock. It's more apt to be accurate. You enter the timesync source in console monitor. You can find a list of NTP servers in a TID on Novell's site. Just search for public NTP servers.
