Noticed something unusual about my new Z-5500's

basically, I got my new Z-5500's and they are pretty mad, huge sub, excellent quality, but not as loud as possible. I assume this is because Im running it through my laptop that doesnt even have a soundcard and doesnt support 5.1 surround, good news is my new PC (X-Fi) is on its way.

But here's the issue.

Every review I've ever read of the Logitech Z-5500 speakers show the rear connections to the seperate satelites to be some sort of one connection port job.
For example, look at this pic below.

Sub rear

Mine is totally different to the pic above. For starters all of my satelite connections, on both ends finish with two simple un-headed wires, black and red. Basically as you get on most home Hi-Fi systems, little wires that have just been cut at the end to show the metal.
Not the single coloured connection as shown on the rear of the sub in the pic above.

Here's mine - notice the power connection cord is also not pre attached to the sub.

The rear of my sub

My question is, why is mine different?! Is it a new or old model, and what difference will it make? Will i see better or worse quality, and whats the point of the two different types?

Thanks

Any help would be great guys, as I'm a little worried!

You've got the newer model. People complained to Logitech that they should use normal speaker cable connectors like in yours and so they did.

If you look reeeeeeeally closely, you can see that your power supply has a 230V rating whereas the other picture has a 120V rating. I can only assume that you're not located in the United States, so taking that into account, Logitech probably had a different design for the different power supplies. Either that or you might just have a newer revision.

Also, it's preferable to have separate speaker terminals like you have instead of simple RCA jacks. Another point for you.

Don't worry about it. Enjoy your speaker set. :)

WooHoo! Sounds like great news!
Just realised I can hook these up to my dads amp and expensive Hi-Fi system.
Same one as my name - Naim :D

It will be interesting to see how they run amped, if I can do that? Anyone know if it's possible?

nah lol, was just an idea. The main and only purpose is to serve as some kick ass PC speakers. For gaming, my design/editing work, DVD watching and music listening.
Nothing major, I just thought I'd go with the extra un-necessary power for the sake of it.
Plus they have had rave reviews and seem to be excellent quality and sound performance.

I'm definately not one of those to go and spend over £1000 on some speakers, though I know there are some that spend in excess of £35k!!
