yum install, as useful as this utility is, it doesn't appear to be back-ward compadible.

Now as much as I like updating my software to the latest and greatest, some web hosting providers offer ancient web technologies.

Ie, I had php5 on fedora core 5. I personally don't mind php5 since I like it's capabilities. This particular web hosting service which is being used for website I'm working on offers php4. (they haven't seen the light yet), easy to uninstall php5 through yum. however, have yet to find a way to install php4 through yum. Currently rebuilding php4 rpm.

You might consider using CentOS 4 or Fedora Core 4. Fedora Core 4, I think, will probably update to php5 though, so you will want to disable auto yum updates.

Also, have you checked out the Dag or Livna repos for Fedora Core 5? They might have php4 packages.

Oh look _somebody_ knows how to use Google!

Yes I did google before posting. Hense why I was rebuilding the php4 rpm. If you actually read the page cleverhandle is point to you will notice a step which discussed rebuilding the php 4 rpm. However, my question was related to yum.

Thanks to cleverhandle for trying to help, and to Brazen for some cheap sarcastic humor.

By the way Brazen, please increase your reading comprehension before making stupid remarks.
