I received two emails. They went to an email account which I might have provided when I bought some memory, but after 10 years of continual upgrading, who knows?. What is this about?

An Important Notice from the United States District Court for the Northern District of California About Partial Class Action Settlements Involving Dynamic Random Access Memory ("DRAM")

IF YOU PURCHASED DRAM IN THE UNITED STATES, YOU COULD GET BENEFITS FROM THE PARTIAL SETTLEMENTS.

Three separate proposed settlements totaling $160,750,000.00 have been reached in a class action lawsuit concerning prices of DRAM with defendants: Infineon Technologies AG and Infineon Technologies North American Corp.; Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.; and Hynix Semiconductor Inc. and Hynix Semiconductor America, Inc. These are the first settlements reached in this litigation, which will continue against the remaining defendants. You may be a member of the Settlement Class whose rights may be affected by this lawsuit. The sole purpose of this notice is to inform you of the lawsuit so that you may decide what steps to take in relation to it.

You do not need to do anything to remain in the Class. Settlement Class members will be entitled to receive money from the settlement fund when it is ultimately distributed. If you want to exclude yourself from the Class, you must do so not later than October 3, 2006. Please read the Notice described in the next paragraph carefully for directions on how to exclude yourself. If you do not timely exclude yourself from the Class but want to object to any or all of the settlements, you must file a written objection not later than October 3, 2006. Please read the Notice described in the next paragraph carefully on how to object.

A more detailed description of this litigation and the proposed settlements are contained in the Notice of Pendency of Class Action and Partial Class Action Settlements (the "Notice"). The Notice may be accessed at www.DramAntitrustSettlement.com or obtained free of charge by writing to: In re DRAM Antitrust Litigation, c/o Rust Consulting, Inc., P.O. Box 24657, West Palm Beach, FL 33416 or calling the Class Administrator at (866) 483-9938.

To obtain more information describing your rights under the partial settlements, contact the Class Administrator by writing to: In re DRAM Antitrust Litigation, c/o Rust Consulting, Inc., P.O. Box 24657, West Palm Beach, FL 33416 or calling toll-free 1-866-483-9938.

Me also. Had to google it to see if it was legit or not...Appears to be...Of course, we'll probably get a coupon for pennies, while the lawyers get millions...

Didnt get it, but thanks to you I can now cut myself in for a piece of the action! :D

Even though Ive spent about $12,000 on hardware since 1991 for personal use. That includes proceeds applied from old system sales. I keep a worksheet damnit!

It's spam, but may or not also be a phishing scam.

The 2 I got both had deceptive links where the displayed link didn't match the actual one.

I haven't seen anything on news sites about a class action payout to the public so for now my vote's with Ackbar: is it's a trap.

The link in my email for
www.DramAntitrustSettlement.com
leads to:

I'm guessing that they used a 3rd party service to send the email, and that service is tracking how many hits they get.

I got a couple. I figured it was junk mail, since most everything else these days is.

Thanks for posting, now I know what's going on.

i got mine in the mail. i bought a fair amount of crucial RAM back in the day. it seems pretty legit to me, and they are specifically asking you NOT to contact them, so it would be the worst phishing attempt in the history if that's what it was.

Received mine the other day by USPS. The only ram I remember buying back then though was a few sticks off of eBay.

I got one. It said to be sure and keep all your receipts for applicable purchases (DRAM purchases between 1999 and 2002). Well, that's not going to happen here, so I tossed it.
