Noticable diff. when upgrading from Pc100 to Pc133 ram? Is it worth upgrading the 192MB of PC100 ram i have to 192mb of PC133? I mostly play games on my computer and i want a higher fps.

I would say no. Keep the ram you have now and wait until you have a DDR capable board and buy that.

if all else remains the same in your system, apart from the ram change, then you'll see no difference! :(

specificly, I should have asked, what is the speed of your front side bus?
because the whole point of PC133 RAM is to be able to run at 133 mz. The speed of your ram is determined by your FBS though

Well, memory isn't ALWAYS determined by FSB, is it? I know that my KT7a RAID board I've got allows me to set memory to 133 even if it's fsb of 100

really?
I was almost sure that your memory runs at the speed of your FSB

nope some boards can run memory asynchronously (sp?) of the FSB. But it wouldn't be a noticeable difference at all, probably 1-2%.

Have you tried to overclock your memory to 133 MHz? Believe it or not, some of the posters here run components faster than the official specifications would suggest (Don't tell anyone though because it's kind of a secret).

Try a search, and I am sure you will find the bois tweeks etc. needed.

Good Luck,

You'll probably only see a difference if you move your FSB to 133 MHz as well.

i have a board that does this, the FSB is 100 while the ram is running at 133, Asus K7V board

If you run your memory asynchronously of your FSB, you can run into latency issues. Therefore, any performance gain received from the extra memory bandwidth may be partially mitigated by the higher latency.

no difference man...just buy a DDR capable mobo and upgrade to 266 MHz ram and then you'll see the difference

hello? wouldn't it be better to buy more pc100 ram? another stick of 256mb would give u a performance boost better then that of upgrading the RAM speed
