NOTHING WORKING ON NEWLY REBUILT COMPUTER

I just rebuilt my compter:
MSI KT3 Ultra
Athlon XP 1800+
2 x 256M Crucial PC2100 DDR
Abit Siluro GeForce 4 Ti 4200
IBM Deskstar 80GB HD

The thing runs fine with the FB set to 100Mhz, which makes the chip run at 1150
But, once I put it to 133Mhz, which is what it's supposed to run at, NOTHING will work right. Everything crashes except IE. usually to a blue screen with a KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED message I'm running Win2K SP2.

I have the latest BIOS and drivers for everything, and I've even tried switching out the RAM. Nothing seems to work.

Any ideas?

I would guess either bad RAM (which you seem to have ruled out) or a faulty driver somewhere. Sometimes, the latest drivers are not always the greatest 😉

put it on 133 bus and set EVERY TIMING setting in the BIOS to as slow as it will go and see what happens....

I got it running... when I originally installed win 2K, I had the bus set to 100Mhz... when I put it to 133, it would crash. I reinstalled windows with the bus set to 133, and everything is working fine now.

i'm glad you got it fixed...but it just seems ridiculous to me that windows couldn't adapt when you set the FSB to something other than 100...so much for a well built product...🙂
