i have a router running linux for my dsl connection. when i type 'dmesg' i often get something like:

Packet log: input DENY ppp0 PROTO=6 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2991 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:21 L=48 S=0x00 I=39856 F=0x4000 T=108 SYN (#33)

all i know is that it the other person is trying to ftp in. but what does the rest of the packet log mean? thanks.
