Nothing new under the sun?

Sadly, I can't think of anything. I can think of things that could partly be FPS but are more than that, but not just an FPS.

I'd like to see something on an ME scale, but with more variety in locales and actual space fleet fights but with a sandoxish universe map ala Oblivion/Fallout 3.
 
A earth vs Aliens MMO would be awesome, flights from earth (space combat) and fighting on alien planets/earth (fps).

hell make it 3 factions. earth vs aliens vs robot uprising on another planet like earth.

The aliens have a jar jar binks kinda jive coming, humans have a Jim raynor vibe, and robots have a terminator vibe.

gameplay over graphics. Massive battles/sandbox. support for 300k at a time..100k each side.

IT WOULD BE EPIC

There are a number of fps that use an assortment of physics. In Crysis you can shoot the water and it splashes, the trees can be cut in half, etc. Other games have somewhat destructible environments such as buildings that blow up into small pieces. Half Life 2 has nice rag doll physics and telephone wires that bounce and a gravity gun. I'd like to see a game that combines all that so that there are lots of things you can move around and destroy in realistic ways.

Like Half Life 2 it should have a great plot, characters, dialog, and whatnot. However, the characters faces and movements would incorporate motion control and look realistic like Avatar the movie. I know that's a lot to ask from a single game engine, but that's what I want. If you can also throw in good AI I will worship you.

Not totally sold on the 3 faction idea, but besides that, that's a great idea.
 
Sandbox game like GTA or Just Cause but a with completely destructible environment. With a FPS perspective of course.
 
Not 'new,' but I haven't seen it in a while. My favorite part of Goldeneye was placing the booby-trap mines and luring the bad guys into them.
 
Zombie survival MMO, pretty much goes hand-in-hand with FPS. Players would all be humans and the zombie hordes would be AI. Tons of stuff I can think of to make this game really fun to play.
 
more customization of your character and variety.

something sort of like the Hitman games where you're an assassin/mercenary/thief/etc but FPS/3rd person and a lot more weapons and ways to kill people. better use of the environments, etc.

a game where its truly open ended instead of like 3 entrances to a building but you still have to kill the target with a gun. Like you could wait for day or night, you could rig his car to explode, snipe from a distance, disguise yourself and get in close with a knife or garrote, or just sneak in, or even just poison his food. Or hell, rig the building to explode or something.

you would have tons of different missions to take. like to assassinate a person, steal an object, escort a vip, etc.

Something more realistic where it doesn't take many bullets to kill an enemy and the same goes for yourself too.
 
WW2 enemies vs fewer but better armed aliens. Different armies could have different specialties.
How about a Custards last stand game humans vs many, many bots that have to take a fort that was player designed and the bots behave realistically climbing walls, being slowed by debris. Players design defenses with random garbage lying around.

I picked 3 faction because 2 faction has been done to death. 3 faction worked great in my all time favorite MMO dark age of camelot.

With 3 faction one always balanced out the other in some way. Like robots better weapons than humans/aliens(weaker spaceships/weapons)..aliens more types of weapons than the other 2 plus better space weapons(weaker ships)..humans had better armor for space/ships than other 2..but weaker weapons.


Stuff along that lines.

Plus makes balancing easier, because for the start one is always better than other in some form or another.

A World War MMO game would also work like this, its been "done" but not for the best sorts that appeal to everyone. The current version is to "meh" to sell over to the public.

If i had the money to do something with MMOs I would actually do something like that 😀
