I enjoy cruising AdultFriendFinder with my wife to find a third party to inject a bit of sorely needed excitement into our boring life.

Glad you're coming clean at last.

After watching Jesus Camp, I'm wondering if one could be a Christain and a good American.

Half of it is wrong. Allah = Christian God.

That "Submit to the Mullahs" part is wrong too. He's not instructed to marry four women. And even the Bible tells the man to lay the smackdown when the wife disobeys (old Testament). Every Muslim government is dictatorial because the US supports it because there's OIL in them thar hills.

It's an email written by a prejudiced moron, who doesn't even take the time to properly research his insults.

Can a good Muslim be a good American?

I sent that question to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years.
The following is his reply:

Theologically - no. Because his allegiance is only to Allah, never to any
earthly political or geographical state, but solely to the moon god of Arabia.

Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah
except Islam (Quran, 2:256)

Scripturally - no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam
and the Quran (Koran).

Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns
in prayer five times a day.

Socially - no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends
with Christians or Jews.

Politically - no. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual
leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel, and Destruction of America the
great Satan.

Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat
and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).

Intellectually - no. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution
since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be
corrupt.

Philosophically - no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow
freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist.
Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.

Spiritually - no. Because when we declare "one nation under God," the
Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as
heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran's 99 excellent
names.

Therefore after much study and deliberation....perhaps we should be very
suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. They obviously cannot be both
"good" Muslims and good Americans.

Call it what you wish....it's still the truth.

If you find yourself intellectually in agreement with the above
statements, perhaps you will share this with your friends. The more who
understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future.

If you do not agree with the above, pass it on to others of you belief and
discuss it so as to be able to refute it.

Pass it on Fellow Americans. The religious war is bigger than we know or
understand.

First of no you didnt, it's a dumb chain letter passed on by idiots. Second of all, if you replace Muslim with Christian, the half of the above text works just as well (you shall have no other gods before me.)

Interestigly enough I actually have muslim friends (even though Im Catholic by background)... how could that be? I thought muslims would cut me to pieces because of their angry god?

If you want to summarize "down south" in one ignorant article, the above would work.

The only thing that "went down" was your wife, on me. What, you didn't know she was pulling a little one-on-one in addition to your "swinging"? Shame on you.

Theory: OP is testing this email here before he forwards it on to his buddies at the laundromat while they're doing the Extra Hot Water Rinse w/Bleach of their Friday Night outfits. ;)

Yeah, she mentioned that, it was hard to understand her because she was laughing so hard. Something like Little, flaccid, no wonder he has nothing else in his life...has to make up for things...and that you were whining because your wife was stepping out for a real man... and that you went and huddled in the corner and wet yourself.

Bait all you want fVcko....we can go round and round if need be...however...this will be the last from me...enjoy your pathetic life....

Every point in that list is factually false. For example, the 48th name of Allah is "The Loving."

Some of those raise interesting points, but a good number are just plain wrong (eg the one about not being able to have non-Muslim friends...not true; Muhammad worked quite closely with the Jewish community in Medina before the relationship turned sour).

If one interprets the Qur'an literally, then yes, the question is a valid one (after all, in the Qur'an it says to strike unbelievers wherever you meet them). One could say that about the Bible to some extent (though not as much b/c of the whole "render unto Ceasers what is his..." etc). The problem, in my opinion, has become somewhat more acute for Islam because of the way the Qur'an is viewed. While Christians see the Bible as God's words written by believers, Muslims see the Qur'an as the literal word of God, and therefore no room for interpretation is possible (in the Bible, it says dont wear mixed fabric for example, but Christians have interpreted that as out of date/not applicable, but it is much, much, harder, if not impossible, to do that with the Qur'an).

I think another interesting aspect is the fact that Islam, even moreso than Christianity, goes beyond being a religion and is worldview and lays out a whole body of rules/laws that inherently conflict with the notion of a separate public/private secular/religious divide that is the basis for secular Western democracies. For one example, merely look at Canada and England where there is a strong movement among Muslims to try and get the right to control some "secular" and "civil" (as seen by non-muslims) issues such as marriage, inheritance, schooling, etc.

I recommend the book "Infidel" by Ayaan Hisri Ali (Somali refugee who was a Dutch MP...she helped make the movie that got Theo Van Gogh murdered by the Islamic extremist). She deals tangentially with some of the issues raised in this email you posted, especially when it comes to Muslims and women's rights in western society.
