Tonight in Wine Appreciation we get to taste three wines. A $14/bottle, a $50/bottle, and a $100/bottle. In fact he has two $100 wines here tonight, but we only get to taste one.
Nothing like taking wine appreciation as an undergrad.🙂
The professor does not require that we spit it out.Originally posted by: brtspears2
Don't you have to spit out the wine in a bucket anyways? Or I have been mislead that drinking the wine makes your taste buds go bad.

Its common for some really snooty types to spit the wine out after a drink before they move on to another. I go to a decent amount of wine tastings and always sort of chuckle at them.

It depends. I have tasted some old/pricey wines that tasted great. On the other hand age alone is not enough. It needs to be stored properly. Or it goes bad.
Example = A friend's father collected German wines. I mean COLLECTED, lol. Somewhere in the 2000 bottle range and he had put somewhere between $750,000 and 1 million into them. What did he do with them...Let them sit in his garage for like 15 years or something like that. Just about every single bottle went bad. What a waste.

what?!
he spends a million bucks and then puts them in his garage??
i'd expect someone with that kind of money to build a wine cellar or something.

They aren't being snooty, the point is not to get drunk so that you can accurately rate the wine.
