Why do gun threads always turn into a debate (flamefest)? Can't you panty wastes just let people exercise their rights as Americans to own a firearm? You don't have to buy one, you have a right NOT to purchase or carry a firearm. Chances are that in your entire lifetime a firearm will not affect your life in any way.

You people make me goddamned sick, you're all so quick to fight for banning anything that can possibly harm another human being. You as Americans should be fighting for the expanding of your rights, not the further curtailing of them. Guess what, we don't live in a utopian society, nothing even CLOSE to it. Though you have no problem fighting to the bloody end to take away someone elses rights because you feel it's necessary. The worst part is that you don't even care rights are being taken away until it's YOUR bull being gored.

but ill get it going since the rest of the thread, started by a cop who likes his new weapon, has been pushed down a hill of stupidity.

you see, a number of guns are designed with hunting in mind. my father has a number of legally owned hunting rifles, and as i understand it (maybe some olympic events have fooled me) some guns are designed explicitly for target shooting.

i wont bother with water guns, paint guns, nail guns, bb guns or stun-guns, as while they clearly arent meant or designed to kill, they dont fit into the basic definition of a gun that will usually involve the word "weapon".

of course, i suppose most all guns *could* be used to kill people (though i suppose a watergun would require a bit more determination), but so can cars, knives, bats, tire-irons, hatchets, ice-picks, hammers, mallets, large wrenches, various power-tools, gardening tools, rope, or the power cord that any of our desktop pcs use.

Americans would rather take away the rights of others than actually take responsibility for their actions.
