Notfred does dent repair, with pictures.

So, my truck had a dent in the hood. My mom ran it into a pole. The dent wasn't particulalrly large... maybe 1/4" deep and three inches long. here's a picture. You can't see it particularly well in that photo, but I didn't get a good "before" shot.

So, I got some sandpaper, and some bondo, and primer, and went to work. I've never actually worked with bondo before....

Anyway, I got the dent filled, and one coat of primer on it. here's another picture. I took that picture from the angle I shoud have taken a "before" shot from, as it made the dent the most obvious. I think it came out pretty good. Some wet sanding and another coat of primer and it'll be ready to paint.

Nice work notfred, if I'm ever in Cali, I know who to see for bodywork 🙂

Man I wish we had taken pics when some friends and I did driveway bodywork using a late model F150. Ya had to be there.....

Either it came out really well, it came out really poorly, or someone got bondo'ed to the driveway.

That would have been 😎 to see NutBucket, I'm always amazed at how good bodywork can repair dents, I wish I had the skill and patience, but alas, I lack both 😱

Bondo is not hard to work with at all really, but that came out real nice Tyler/notfred. May I suggest for future dents you get a body hammer kit and try to knock the dent out first, then use a skim of bondo. Bondo can be your friend, but it can also be your enemy.

Looks real nice tho. I assume you are going to get the body straight, remove the cancer, then have it profesionaly painted? or you gonna do that in the street too 😛

Long story short: Friend buys 65 Mustang Fastback. Previous owner was an idiot and didn't properly latch the hood which flew up on the freeway. So, friend buys the car knowing the hood is f'd up (car is otherwise ok). Now, he can't drive the car w/o a hood nor can he afford to have a new one painted up so we decided to salvage the old hood to at least make the car driveable. Anyway, here's what it looks like now. As I recall he bought the car in '01 and has been driving it that way since then. 65 Mustang

I would have tried to push it out, but the hood has a seecond peice of sheet metal welded to the back with a couple inch gap between the outer and inner peice. I would have had to drill a hole in something to reach the back of that dent, and it wasn't that deep in the first place, so I just filled it.

Actually, the worst part of the dent was that when it was pushed in, it was also pushed down, so there was kind of a "buldge" on the bottom of the hood there, and it didn't look right. I pounded that back into place with a hammer.

I'm going to get my friend's father in law to paint the truck after I do all the prep work. He's been donig body and paint work for 25 years, and has his own shop in a garage behind his house. He'll spray it for free, as long as I do the prep work and pay for the paint. He's really good, too, I've seen the other stuff he's done.

Hood could be a bit less bent, though 😉

Before we "fixed" it you could have put it on the car w/ the hinges. Basically, we did some "driveway" bodywork. Put the hood on between some blankets and we ran over the corners of it w/ his F150. As you can see it now at least is on the car. If I told you guys what he paid for it you'd all jump out of your windows me thinks😉😛

That's great; you're very lucky! Body work/paint jobs are $$$$$. I know you'll post pics. Good luck.
