Notepad loads automatically on computer... how to prevent that?

My GFs computer crashes a lot, and I've noticed that notepad is the culprit when I hit AltCtrlDel. It seems like its loading up by itself when windows boots up. How do I stop it from loading?

Start/Run. Type in msconfig, and go to the startup tab. See if it's loading there.

Also look in Start/Programs/Startup. See what's loading from there.
 
you can try looking in the startup folder and see if a shortcut is in there... or there MIGHT be an entry in the system.ini... not sure on the last suggestion...
 
There have been a couple of prominent viruses that infect notepad. Unless you have done so very recently, I would highly recommend a virus scan.
 
sounds like the Note virus, search your files for note.com. If its there you have the virus. There are fixes out for it, do a websearch.
