notepad++ file type detection

How do I "register" .php files to open as php files in notepad++ so that I get the syntax highlighting? It used to do it automaticly. I clean installed windows, and I can't seem to remember how to make it do this. I can make it for the session but as soon as I close it it resets to default.

I just uninstalled, rebooted, deleted the notepad++ folder (since uninstallers never work properly) and reinstalled, and all is good now.
