Notebook suggestions....

Planning to buy a notebook in the 1300$ price range...I 'd like to know if there are any candidates with a decent, discreet graphics subsystem (sth like mobility Radeon 9600 or from nvidia no prob) without being so concerned about powerful P4 cpus...Any amount of MHz from the centrino platform would do the job for me (Banias or Dothan cores)

Possibly, I purchased my eMac M6805 from Best Buy back in March when they were first released for $1299 (after rebates which I received quickly). My buddy got one for $1199 on the very same day at a different store location because he haggled with them.

The M6810 today is $1499 after rebates at Best Buy and is exactly the same system as the M6805 except it includes the Athlon64 3200 instead of the 3000 that I have.

Don't know why the prices have gone up but they have.

Is it me, or does your link go to a page that shows the M6810 for $1499 BEFORE rebates of $250 for a total of $1249 after rebates. The M6805 is $1399 before $150 in rebates for a total of $1249, now, THAT doesn't make sense.

I looked at that link and it shows the M6805 for $1399.99 after rebates. Pretty steep compared to how much they sold this thing for when it first came out. I think in the beginning they were just trying to make a name for themselves with what was at the time an amazingly powerful laptop for the cost.

Edit: Actually, I looked at it again and it's hard to tell if that is the price before rebates or after. I went to purchase one then cancelled and it looks like that is the price before rebates in which case it is still a very good price. It also appears that the M6810 is the same price after rebates as the M6805 so that's pretty much a no-brainer!
