Notebook sound card problems: sounds like the vocals are muted???

Anyone ever experience this problem?

Its very strange, I dont even know where to begin.... Its like the sound is EQ'ed strangely so the vocals in music are muted (like when you listen to a song, the background vocals/instruments come in normal but the main vocals are very soft...)

I am at a loss... I rarely use the notebook to listen to music, but its still a little weird (and bothering me)
