Notebook screen on desktop

I am a bored child and I want to know if it is possible to use a notebook LCD screen and get it to interface with a desktop computer. Has anyone done it before can anyone point me to a tutorial on how to do this?

I have a Compaq laptop which has no battery and no CD-Rom so basically its just a desktop anyways. So I want to use it on my lovely AMD 1Ghz desktop and put it in my car and drive around with it 🙂

Any help would be good I know this sounds wacky.
